  1. Why didn't Griffey wear his socks high? Nice pics, Roast, thanks.
  2. I'm sorry, but I can't stand the Lakers. I do have a liking for the Clips and Warriors though. Golden State is looking pretty good right now, but the Clippers blew a golden opportunity today. Now they have to hope for the Lakers to lose to Seattle. I'm the same, I want the Clips and Warriors (yay Baron Davis and Matt Barnes) to make it.
  3. ------------------- Pawelek's final line: 2 IP, 2 ER, 1 H, 1 K/2 BB, 2 HBP. Peoria loses 9-3. Jesse Estrada got the spot start for Daytona: 3 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 1 K/1 BB, 1 HR. Tyler Colvin is 0 for 2 with a K (against a lefty starter). Daytona is down 2-1 in the fourth.
  4. In the even that the Cubs do win this game, I won't be able to post a new game thread till about 10 pm PT. If that's too late for you folks, go ahead and start one.
  5. Yes! I was considering putting that in my sig but when I shrank it, you couldn't read it completely. There was also one about 5 years ago where Satchel/the Cubs were the butt of a joke.
  6. TV: CSN Radio: WGN 720 XM: 186 RHP Jason Marquis (0-1, 3.27 ERA) vs. RHP Clay Hensley (0-2, 9.00 ERA) Game-time temperature: 50°F Feels like: 47°F Winds blowing in from CF at about 15 mph.
  7. Another bad Pawelek outing. :( 1.1 IP, 2 ER, 1 H, 1 K/1 BB, 2 HBP
  8. Ceda was roughed up today: 3.2 IP, 7 ER, 4 H, 2 K/4 BB, 1 HBP, 1 WP. Pawelek out of the pen: 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 K/0 BB. Lopez with a solo HR, but Peoria down 7-1 in the 5th inning.
  9. It's always been a concern for me - the one year he put together a good amount of XBHs was the season he got hurt midway through. But still, 32 ABs isn't enough to worry yet, imo.
  10. Seriously, what the heck...miss 2 pitches?
  11. What, I will take that bet. I will even give you 1,000 to 1 odds. "If someone gives you 1,000 to 1 on anything, you take it. If John Mellencamp ever wins an Oscar, I am going to be a very rich dude."
  12. Nah it will be David Weathers who cuts through our offense like a a knife through hot butter. Wish he coulda done that to other teams in '01 with the Cubs.
  13. Cause we had no outs and 3,4,5 coming up. it was dumb. Soriano is fast enough to score The rule of thumb that 3rd base coaches uses is this: If the ball gets to the OFer (in this case the CFer) before the runner even gets to third you hold the runner up. In this case Soriano was a good 3 steps away from 3rd when the ball got to Freel. Holding Soriano up there was the good call. Yeah, I don't think you can fault Quade for not wanting to risk a baserunner on third with nobody out and the best hitters in the lineup at bat. none of those guys have gotten a hit today. give me a break. freel threw home and it was cut off because soriano was standing on 3rd. Give me a break, they should have forced the action when runs are scare. Force them to make a good throw. Quade sent Theriot is a similar situation in MIL (the CF had the ball and if it hadn't been for a great slide he was out). Force a good throw with the 3-4-5 hitters and no outs? That's Wavin' Wendel style right there.
  14. Is Kyle Lohse really shutting out the Cubs? Wtf.
  15. I still think he's destined for the pen.
  16. Actually, Tennessee plays two. Game one starts at 3 pm. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP JR Mathes (0-1, 9.00 ERA, 8 IP) Tennessee (game one): RHP Kevin Hart (0-1, 9.00 ERA, 5 IP) Tennessee (game two): RHP Mark Holliman (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 6 IP) Daytona: RHP Joel Santo (1-0, 1.80 ERA, 5 IP) Peoria: RHP Jose Ceda (1-0, 3.60 ERA, 5 IP) Mathes: 8 IP, 7 K/5 BB, .364 BAA Hart: 5 IP, 1 K/1 BB, .211 BAA Holliman: 6 IP, 7 K/1 BB, .190 BAA Santo: 5 IP, 1 K/1 BB, .300 BAA Ceda: 5 IP, 8 K/2 BB, .167 BAA
  17. Game-time temperature : 51°F Feels like: 46°F Mostly sunny, 10% chance of precipitation. Winds blowing in from LCF at about 15 mph.
  18. I felt he did quite well last season, but SBC/AT&T is a better pitcher's park than Dodger Stadium. He was dinked and dunked a bit last inning - but that HR was a no-doubter on a night I didn't think many HRs could be hit.
  19. Yeah thats pretty awesome that along with Colvin's performances recently have really given me something to be excited about. Nice avatar and sig. :)
  20. Iowa wins 8-0. Felix Pie went 0/2 with 3 BBs and a K. Iowa pitchers combined for 15 Ks. Peoria loses 8-5. Dolis: 4 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 3 K/2 BB, 1 HR Papelbon: 1.2 IP, 4 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 3 BB
  21. Jason Schmidt is getting lit up by the Padres...
