  1. He was supposed to start tomorrow for the first time since 9/1. Had a good bullpen but felt pain afterwards while throwing a ball back into the infield while shagging flyballs. Sounds like an injury that was going to happen soon, no matter what.
  2. They couldn't even muster one hit against the Giants bullpen in four innings.
  3. I like the "advanced" reference to Eloy. Also very encouraged at the Albertos input. *70-changeup. Hadn't appreciated that before. If a guy throws 97 but his better pitch is a change, that's a lot of possibility. *"Stuff guy". *"Will build up some instructional innings". That doesn't suggest there is a presently serious arm injury, or that any surgery has been done or anything. The Cubs made it clear a month ago that Albertos didn't have surgery.
  4. Wonder if Carpenter and Molina still think the Cardinals can make a move in the division.
  5. that about sums it up, as it just isn't the same backing into a win like that Yes, but before backing in, we also switched gears to go forward and run over their lifeless bodies several times. There's no shame in partying the next day, when there is still half a month of baseball left. Thank you. 93 wins on 9/15 isn't backing in. Sorry they couldn't sequence their wins in a manner to clinch on the field.
  6. Lol, at Cubs tweeted the Cubs had won the Central when there was still one out in the 9th for me. Stupid laggy MLB TV. Also, horsefeathers yeah!
  7. BA's end of the year Cubs report: http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/eloy-jimenez-steps-outside-torres-shadow/#K6tLqGBq5JAydXPG.97 Best player: Eloy Jimenez Pitcher of the Year: Trevor Clifton. Also of note was Oscar de la Cruz and BA mentioned his offseason plans:
  8. I'll work on the rest of them this weekend. Tim has set up a lot of variants of the filtered words and I thought I got most of the big ones.
  9. That makes this the last minor league game thread of the year.
  10. The final out of the Eugene game last night: [tweet] [/tweet]
  11. The Giants bullpen is horrible. Wow, they've only converted 4 of 10 save opportunities in the month of September.

  13. Didn't they also set a franchise record (or maybe it was a NWL record) for most wins in a season? It was a franchise record. They came three wins shy of the NWL record. Especially impressive considering they lost their top two pitchers and one of their best position players to promotion (Oscar de la Cruz, Jose Paulino and Andruw Monasterio) and also lost Jesus Castillo in the trade for Joe Smith.
  14. And done. Emeralds win it! That's 2-for-2. Now we just the Cubs to complete the trifecta!! Myrtle Beach hasn't won their series yet. They're up 2-1 in a best-of-5.
  15. And Eugene wins their first championship in 41 years. Wyatt Short with a quick 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th inning. 2-1 final. Both Eugene runs scored with 2 outs.
  16. Eugene is 3 outs away from winning the NWL Championship. They're up 2-1.

  18. I second this motion. Okay, I changed most of the common swears. horsefeathers!
  19. Maddon pulled the standard manager move of having his infielders visit the pitcher before he walked out there so that Chapman would get a couple extra warmup pitches. West told Joe he couldn't do that for some reason even though it is done in EVERY game. So Joe just walks out to argue with him instead so that Chapman gets even more warmup pitches. Problem solved. I wonder if West realized he got played by Maddon anyways. Also, why would he let Joe make the pitching change after being ejected?
  20. Really cool to hear Len give that shoutout. Joe West is the absolute worst.
  21. Should we change the swear word filter from [expletive] to horsefeathers?
  22. Did Len mention Fred? I'm just getting in and want to know if I should tweet him too.
  23. that series is best of 3, and the next game (and game 3 if necessary) is in eugene. horsefeathers, you're right. Fixed.
