He was supposed to start tomorrow for the first time since 9/1. Had a good bullpen but felt pain afterwards while throwing a ball back into the infield while shagging flyballs. Sounds like an injury that was going to happen soon, no matter what.

I like the "advanced" reference to Eloy. Also very encouraged at the Albertos input. *70-changeup. Hadn't appreciated that before. If a guy throws 97 but his better pitch is a change, that's a lot of possibility. *"Stuff guy". *"Will build up some instructional innings". That doesn't suggest there is a presently serious arm injury, or that any surgery has been done or anything. The Cubs made it clear a month ago that Albertos didn't have surgery. -

that about sums it up, as it just isn't the same backing into a win like that Yes, but before backing in, we also switched gears to go forward and run over their lifeless bodies several times. There's no shame in partying the next day, when there is still half a month of baseball left. Thank you. 93 wins on 9/15 isn't backing in. Sorry they couldn't sequence their wins in a manner to clinch on the field.

Lol, at Cubs tweeted the Cubs had won the Central when there was still one out in the 9th for me. Stupid laggy MLB TV. Also, horsefeathers yeah!

Didn't they also set a franchise record (or maybe it was a NWL record) for most wins in a season? It was a franchise record. They came three wins shy of the NWL record. Especially impressive considering they lost their top two pitchers and one of their best position players to promotion (Oscar de la Cruz, Jose Paulino and Andruw Monasterio) and also lost Jesus Castillo in the trade for Joe Smith.

Maddon pulled the standard manager move of having his infielders visit the pitcher before he walked out there so that Chapman would get a couple extra warmup pitches. West told Joe he couldn't do that for some reason even though it is done in EVERY game. So Joe just walks out to argue with him instead so that Chapman gets even more warmup pitches. Problem solved. I wonder if West realized he got played by Maddon anyways. Also, why would he let Joe make the pitching change after being ejected?
