  1. Great at bats from Javy and Jay. Ugh, Jay should've tagged on the Schwarber flyball.
  2. If there's a rain delay, I hope Butler can pitch up to it. I'd hate to lose Montgomery before a delay. That's 2 potential XBHs knocked down by the wind. Ugh.
  3. No. I don't know about squeezed but the ump's zone was very tight.
  4. Jonathan Mayo's mock draft: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/231085504/jonathan-mayo-mock-projection-2017-mlb-draft/?topicid=151437456 Hiura went 22, Pearson went 23, Danner 25, Carlson 26, Lutz 29, no Ramos or Holmes in the top 30.
  5. One thing to keep in mind is it was always likely Cease would get shut down this season once he hit an innings limit. He only threw 71.1 innings last year between extended spring training and Eugene (I'm guessing they want to bump him up to 100 innings this season, which would get him through July if he were healthy). A small ankle injury where he misses a little time probably allowshim a chance to finish the regular season and maybe even pitch the playoffs.

  8. More details: [tweet] [/tweet] At least it's not an arm injury.
  9. Yep. Hiura would be my dream come true.
  10. Yeah something called an Espino, then Chase Anderson and then Jimmy Nelson are a really feared triple headed monster. Hah, I meant the guys we have going and Anderson and Nelson are maybe their 2 best pitchers aren't they? (not that this means they are great relative to the entire league) Matt Garza actually leads the Brewers in ERA, ERA+ and is second in FIP. Only posting this because I'm shocked.
  11. What a dumb inning from Lester's point of view. Hits that found holes in the infield and Rondon giving up the inherited runs.
  12. 2089 Mock: https://2080baseball.com/2017/05/mlb-draft-bites-mock-draft-edition-05-19-2017/ Nick Allen goes 24 to Boston, Tanner Houck 26, Brendon Little 28.
  13. They also have top 10 talent prep OF Jordon Adell dropping all the way to 32 (bonus demands?) and Vandy OF Jeren Kendall down to 16 (contact issues). Clarke Schmidt went 19 and Kyle Wright was their newest 1st overall pick.
  14. That's what Liam meant by 'the Andrew Shaw/Kobe special'. Crap, I just glossed over that.
  15. Here's Brett Jackson the last time he played at Wrigley:
  16. I just want one lineup with Báez, Almora, Bryant, Schwarber and Happ so the Cubs last 5 first rounders would be starting.
  17. Yeah, those guys appear to be doing pretty terrible in XST. O well. Hopefully they'll get better with time. Despite Albertos' early season struggles, Arizona Phil seems to think he'll start off in Eugene:
  18. Not sure an assignment to high-A was too advanced for a guy with his pedigree. Most of us were hoping he'd start in Myrtle Beach over the winter.

  20. On another note, "Hail to the Cubs" has a great ring to it: [tweet] [/tweet]
  21. I'm not posting much during games because they aren't happening at 2 in the horsefeathering morning. The Cubs need to get on my newborn's schedule.
