  1. [tweet] [/tweet] Would rather sign Jansen and use prospects/Soler for other needs.
  2. Actual working link since apparently Bob Nightengale doesn't know how twitter works: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2016/12/05/nationals-bryce-harper-contract-2018-free-agent/94999440/
  3. Injury concerns? Acquisition cost concerns? Or both? Also, going after Duffy, Davis, and Cain is savvy. I'd suspect it'd probably cost a lot, but I like that idea. For me, both. Especially when Jansen is out there in free agency.
  4. Seriously, what a story. [tweet] [/tweet]

  6. I think the guy who started this thread did. Guilty.

  10. That's good news. With Otani, Darvish and possibly Cueto, the Cubs will have some options to replace Arrieta. Given their ages, I'd prefer Otani. Sign Darvish, have him help recruit Otani. Rotation solved. I assumed they'd only get one. Gotta save up for Bryce too.

  12. I was in Vegas last weekend and got to watch, and bet on, UCLA a few times. They are really good and seem to have a bit of everything, I was able to still bet them at 25/1 to win it all before I left. Which I think is/was really great value. Considering most of the teams you'd think to bet on to win it all (Duke, UNC, Kentucky, etc) were under 10/1 and a lot were inside 5/1. I'll be impressed if an Alford team advances past the Sweet 16.
  13. He's not all that great though, especially if the proposals you've thrown out is what he's going to cost. I have no idea what his cost will be but I'm estimating Soler's value to be quite low being a DH who hasnt hit and I figure you need to add an MLB arm to get the deal done. Grimm is at the bottom of the totem pole so I'd think he'd be the first to go. We need to see what state Strop and especially Rondon are in before we start trading away a guy like Grimm (unless you plan on bringing in more than Wilson).
  14. Given that he's a guy who they just need to stash on the 40-man (out for 2017 but if they keep him on the 40-man all season, they control his rights for 2018), I think the Cubs could've afforded to pick him up if they thought he had even a remote chance of recovering. I mean, they did last year with Leathersich. Of course the Cubs might not have thought enough of Lindgren's recovery. Or he picked the Braves because he's a Mississippi kid and that would be the closes team to home.
  15. Melancon sounds like such a Giants signing. Would love to get that first closer domino to fall so we can find out if the Cubs can land Jansen. [tweet] [/tweet]
  16. Really wanted one of Wisconsin or Virginia Tech to force overtime.
  17. I assume N&G watched tonight's game.
  18. Did not expect to go into Rupp and win. Lonzo Ball has been a treat to watch.

  20. Happy one month anniversary!
  21. Gant has a super annoying set and windup.
  22. [tweet] [/tweet] If that isn't opening up a can of worms.
