    Yeah, I agree with the idea that Ross will continue in his current role for a little while longer and whenever Maddon decides to move on/retire he'll be the perfect candidate to take over. I don't think Ross really needs any "apprenticeship" type role or experience as a coach before taking on a full-time manager role. I'm happy for D. Martinez and think he'll do a decent job. I am surprised they didn't go with Girardi or Farrell since they're available. I'm wondering if the Nats really are concerned that B. Harper wants to come to Chicago and play for J. Maddon after next season. If that's the case might as well hire a manager similar to J. Maddon and re-create the same atmosphere in that clubhouse. Given how Bud Black to the Nationals fell apart and how most in baseball didn't like the way they parted with Dusty, it seems like veteran managers with some negotiation leverage weren't interested in the job.

    The ages listed by Arizona Phil are as of his post, not their signing age. I'm not sure how many this affects, but I do know Luis Verdugo was 16 when he signed (signed 7/2/17, DOB 10/12/00). Florencio Serrano, their other big IFA, was 17 when he signed.

    I can't stand giving relievers a one batter rope and Roberts did it twice. You don't need to bring every good reliever into a dirty inning.

    I'll play Devils Advocate AGAINST myself and you now lol. Leake had pitched 3 straight seasons of at least 192 innings, and 4 years of having made at least 30 starts as well. Chatwood has never thrown more than 158 innings in the majors and has an injury history as a pro. Cobb has never thrown 180 innings and also has the injury history. These things account for something obviously. Just no idea as to how much. Brandon McCarthy may be a good test case for Cobb, at least the MLBTR guy brought him up.....McCarthy had never pitched lots of innings either and had quite an injury history(but I don't remember arm-related for him?). The year he hit FA though, he had just thrown a 200 inning season and got 4/48. So, maybe 4/48 is on the money or even slightly high on Cobb? At any rate, I'd do it and not think twice. Which may not speak well for my thought process. Its just the class is sooooooo damn weak. Well, that's the thing, supply and demand... the class is so weak, I agree... once you get past Darvish and Arrieta, the next tier of guys are going to get paid too. Everyone's looking for starting pitching... I've already braced myself for the Yankees getting Otani, if he decides to come over. Better the Yankees than the Dodgers.

    Through the first 9 playoff games this year, the Dodgers have done exactly the same thing last year's Indians did: WWW WWWLW W You might have forgotten, but Cleveland blew a 3-1 lead.
