  2. This would be disappointing: [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. J.A. Happ might be another guy if the Jays decide to punt. The Cubs probably wouldn't have to give up an actual asset to get Edinson Volquez from the Marlins and maybe he'd be good enough until the Cubs could get someone better (Stroman or Archer) at the deadline. Ditto Matt Harvery. But yeah, Corbin would be the best option that I can see. Volquez had Tommy John surgery late in the 2017 season.
  4. Sup davell: LA Times on Kikuchi, who is likely coming over next year: http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/la-sp-dodgers-yusei-kikuchi-20171212-story.html
  5. I'd love it if it's the Cardinals; trade off what few parts they have for a guy who the Yankees are going to be gunning for one season later? Yes please. Another Heyward situation? Yeah, that would work.
  6. Just not the Cardinals.
  7. i'd be ok with this, depending on the price. Just sign Cobb if you want to pay a bunch of money to a guy who won't throw 200 IP.
  8. This helps them with their luxury tax situation.
  9. [tweet] [/tweet] Meh
  10. Plus more for one of Báez or Russell. I wouldn't trade either for Hand and Lamet, for example.
  11. Hendricks also lives in the LA area, so it might have just been a proximity thing.

  14. Also, most of this board will find Morrow to be the rare American-born baseball player whose politics they agree with. After the Cubs win the 2018 World Series, he'll probably join CEJ at the DC dinosaur museums.
  15. I doubt he gets to us, but this would be excellent. There's always the ol' "Josh Hamilton" trade up option... Yeah, that's probably their only chance. He should go in the top few picks.
  16. Yeah, I assume they'll go after McGee next. Then maybe a 1-year deal for some veteran who slips through the cracks like Oh or Neshek. Also, I would love for the Cubs to pick Nick Burdi in the Rule 5 draft. He'll be easy to stash since he's coming off TJS and would likely be a nice, cheap potential high leverage arm for 2019.
  17. Lol: [tweet] [/tweet]
  18. Yes, please. If it were Hand and one or two good prospects for Happ (plus depending on the quality of the prospects) I'd be good. You're probably not going to like the "plus" in a Hand/pitching prospect return from the Padres.
  19. Because the Cubs have too many outfielders with last names that start with H, but not enough relievers like that. I’m not a fan of that trade, would rather just spend money on the final bullpen spot. If you’re looking for a Hand type guy I think Liriano is really interesting in that spot as a gamble or else sign one of Reed, Nicasio, or McGee for that final spot who value wise are close to Hand (especially when we have half a dozen other good relief options) and can be had for just money. Outside of throwing with the same hand, Liriano really isn't a Hand type.
  20. I was worried about how Dave Roberts rode him in the playoffs and his previous injury history, but it sounds like he'll come light on the years and dollars because of that and I'm very interested then.

  22. Yeah, the Red Sox don't seem like a good fit. Besides, I doubt Schwarber gets traded this offseason when his value is at an all-time low.
  23. Rodriguez had knee surgery at the end of last season and will probably miss the beginning of the 2018 season.
