  1. The DBacks have the 8th best record in the NL and are winning the division. Is 1-10 in their last 11 bad?
  2. True. The Diamondbacks had a chance to run away with the division and they’ve been horrible in May. The Dodgers have tied the Diamondbacks in RD.
  3. For your off-day viewing: Feel free to skip the 8th inning.
  4. Remember the good old days when the Dodgers were 10 below .500 and had the same record as the Marlins? They’re about to sweep the Nationals in DC and be 5 back of first place.
  5. It’s a different time zone, not the metric system. I'm hungover but I thought it was clear I was joking. Edit: If you were also joking my hangover made it hard to comprehend Yeah, I was trying to joke. Might be your hangover, or it might be that my joke wasn’t funny.
  6. If you have a shitty strike zone, you absolutely have to have thicker skin when you get called out for your [expletive].
  7. Yu since he came off the DL: 10 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 12 K. Can’t believe he went 6 innings with under 100 pitches after that 39-pitch first.
  8. I was hoping for this too, but maybe in the eastern time zone the 7th inning is the 5th or something. It’s a different time zone, not the metric system.
  9. Yeah, anecdotally, it feels like he struggles more going to the right.
  10. That’s as egregious as you’ll see a lean in and they didn’t even bother talking about it.
  11. Or not. He was just pitching around the pitcher to face the worse hitter.
  12. Is this confirmed? I know there was an article last week talking about Yu only using 2-3 of his pitches. Just read it. It’s Athletic so subscriber so I’ll just post this bit: Some of the justification for using the FB/slider so much is that Yu has multiple variants to his slider.
  13. In theory, if he’s only throwing a couple of different pitches, it’s easier to guess right and foul off.
  14. I need a GIF of Schwarber’s celebration of Javy’s homer.
  15. It was very routine for Addison, tough for Javy and that ball isn't touched by Machado. I wouldn’t go as far “routine” but it was definitely a play you expect Russell to make. Schebler doesn’t run well either. Nice work by Happ and Schwarber.
  16. Is Willson calling pitches? A FB outside was an incredible bad pitch choice on a 1-2 count with a guy who was starting to better time up the FB. I don’t understand why the Cubs have made Yu scrap his splitter.
  17. Hey, it was only at AA.
  18. Just read that Soto is the first player in the bigs who wasn’t alive during the Sosa-McGwire chase.

  20. Stinnett was only a reliever his first 2.5 season in college (and he was primarily an infielder his first two seasons). He become a starter midway into his junior year and all of his senior year. He famously outdueled Carlos Rodon his senior year, the year Rodon went third overall. Ah, that's right. Forgot about his senior year. I think I read a report on him leading up to the draft that year that mentioned he had a save against Virginia (or somebody like that) and that stuck in my head. Thanks, Navin. Point still stands, though. He's been a disappointment as a 2nd rounder... Definitely a disappointment, especially because it was well known before that draft that they coveted Jack Flaherty and were hoping he'd fall to their second round pick.
