  1. @CubsProspects is replacing Luke Blaize at BN, which is fantastic. He unmasked himself too.
  2. I don’t have Premium but I believe this is Keith Law’s Cubs Top 10 Prospects: 1. Amaya 2. Hoerner 3. Marquez 4. Alzolay 5. Davis 6. Roederer 7. Ademan 8. de la Cruz 9. Uelman 10. Swarmer That 8-10 sure is different.
  3. Tom, I still haven’t seen confirmation that Estrada had surgery.
  4. Kiley said it was more likely Ealy would stick to football if he committed to Alabama or Clemson but baseball has a much better chance since he committed to Ole Miss.
  5. The Cubs are linked to one of the top 10 prospects next year: Ronnier Quintero, C, Venezuela Power hitting C with a strong arm. Ben Badler doesn’t provide bonus info for Venezuelans because of the danger these prospects are in. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/top-2019-international-prospects-to-watch/ https://www.instagram.com/p/BnH06e7HSWN/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
  6. Law is the only guy around saying Amaya's offense is ahead of his defense.
  7. BP’s top 10 is out. Not a fan: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/article/46779/2019-prospects-chicago-cubs-top-10-prospects/ The State of the System: It’s better at the top than it was last year, but calling the Cubs system “improved” overall is a stretch. The Top Ten: Nico Hoerner, SS Miguel Amaya, C Alex Lange, RHP Adbert Alzolay, RHP Aramis Ademan, SS Justin Steele, LHP Brailyn Marquez, LHP Cole Roederer, OF Brennen Davis, OF Alec Mills, RHP
  8. Nico Hoerner came in at 86 on the BP top 101 prospects list. Miguel Amaya was in the next 10. Also, Kyler Murray somehow ranked at 101.
  9. And a nice update today from Arizona Phil. Hope Davis can keep himself healthy:
  10. I’m not bothering to start a 2019-2020 thread yet: Big Joe Mufferaw: Do we have another generational prospect coming in the next few years? intl, draft or cuba or japan? 1:53 Kiley McDaniel: 2019 J2 class looks strong up top, Draft has one real standout guy right now but not generational yet, Cuba is tapped except for when new 16 year olds pop up, Japan nothing Darvish/Ohtani level
  11. Meh. He’s 19 and was in A-ball so his ranking amongst the best catchers throughout the minors is pretty meaningless. He can easily skyrocket towards the top of the list after anothe season or two with the hope he’s an all-star caliber catcher or he’ll end up being a defense-first backup catcher. Too many variables when you’re that far away at that position to be meaningfully compared to fellow minor leaguers.
  12. 1. Adley Rutschman, C, Oregon St 2. Bobby Witt Jr, SS, HS (TX) 3. Andrew Vaughn, 1B, Cal 4. Riley Greene, OF, HS (FL) 5. CJ Abrams, SS, HS (GA) 6. Corbin Carroll, OF, HS (WA) 7. Shea Langliers, C, Baylor 8. Jerrion Ealy, OF, HS (MS) 9. Graeme Stinson, LHP, Duke 10. Josh Jung, 3B, Texas Tech
  13. Mock draft: https://www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/mlb-mock-draft/
  14. BA's Cubs Top 10 Prospects are out: https://www.baseballamerica.com/teams/1004/chicago-cubs/organizational/?year=2019 1. Nico Hoerner 2. Miguel Amaya 3. Brailyn Marquez 4. Cole Roederer 5. Brennen Davis 6. Adbert Alzolay 7. Paul Richan 8. Cory Abbott 9. Justin Steele 10. Aramis Ademan
  15. Raw ceiling? Marquez on the pitching side, then Riley Thompson and Estrada. Sierra, Davis, Roederer and Velazquez on the offensive side.
  16. We can consolidate all the major offseason lists in here as they come out. Kiley McDaniel and Eric Longenhagen’s Cubs top 31 is out: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/top-31-prospects-chicago-cubs/ The biggest surprises were Ademan still being in the top 3, Reivaj Garcia at 11, Abbott and Thompson relatively low rankings, and some low minor Latin American pitchers cracking the list (Richard Gallardo all the way at 10, Yovanny Cruz at 24, Danis Correa at 29 and Benjamin Rodriguez at 30).
  17. Callis has Hoerner as the 13th best AFL prospect [ahead of Alonso, Duplantier and Bukauskas, but behind Keibert Ruiz (didn’t qualify for BA’s list), Lucius Fox and Cole Tucker]: https://www.mlb.com/news/blue-jays-vlad-jr-leads-2018-afl-top-25-list/c-301075896?tid=151437456
  18. ei are we talking about this elsewhere? any interest? viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2519&p=312731&hilit=kikuchi#p312673 Cubs probably won't spend on him since they are locked in to 5 starting pitchers financially.
