  1. Florencio Serrano will sign with the Rangers on March 26th:
  2. Yovanny in South Bend after 1 Eugene start would be fantastic. If Riley Thompson makes the SB rotation, that rotation probably has the three most exciting full season starters in the farm system.

  6. Generally speaking, the guys who are throwing 2 innings this early are being groomed to start:
  7. I tried to couch it with the “generally speaking” but, yeah, you guys are right.
  8. Arizona Phil has the first minor league camp rosters available: https://www.thecubreporter.com/03072019/2019-cubs-minor-league-camp-rosters Generally speaking, most of these guys will actually end up starting the year one level lower as guys in big league camp get sent down (especially pitchers and catchers). Despite that, it's always a pretty interesting list. Guys who surprised me with how high they are right now are: Luke Haggerty, Miguel Amaya and Aramis Ademan (Iowa) and Edmond Americaan, DJ Artis, Brennen Davis, Jimmy Herron, Fernando Kelli and Jonathan Sierra (Tennessee)
  9. This looks good for the players: Cubs will probably lose Serrano now (probably to the Orioles).
  10. MLB Pipeline's Top 30 is out: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2019?list=chc 1. Miguel Amaya 2. Nico Hoerner 3. Brailyn Marquez 4. Adbert Alzolay 5. Cole Roederer 6. Aramis Ademan 7. Brennen Davis 8. Justin Steele 9. Cory Abbott 10. Keegan Thompson 11. Zack Short 12. Alex Lange 13. Brendon Little 14. Richard Gallardo 15. Nelson Velazquez 16. Yovanny Cruz 17. Thomas Hatch 18. Paul Richan 19. Tyson Miller 20. Trent Giambrone 21. Reivaj Garcia 22. Oscar de la Cruz 23. Jose Albertos 24. Dakota Mekkes 25. Duane Underwood Jr 26. Christopher Morel 28. Riley Thompson 28. Luis Verdugo 29. Jhonny Pereda 30. Andy Weber
  11. After college baseball's opening week, it looks like West Virginia RHP Alek Manoah and Elon RHP George Kirby might be the biggest risers in this year's draft: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/our-week-1-college-scouting-notes/
  12. Eric Longenhagen and Kiley McDaniel came up with a list of players they expect to make the 2020 Top 100 list. When they did this exercise before the 2018 season, they went 18 for 63. One Cub made the list - Cole Roederer in the Under the Advanced Young Bats with Defensive Value section. I was surprised Brailyn Marquez didn't make the Teenage Pitchers section. Also, they listed potential high-leverage relievers who might debut this year and while they might not ever be top 100 prospects, they will have a sizable impact on their team. Dakota Mekkes made this Potentially Dominant Relievers list. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/picks-to-click-who-we-expect-to-make-the-2020-top-100/
  13. Man, I didn’t even bother ordering the handbook this year and just realized I hadn’t. BA has really slipped.
  14. Diamondbacks 2018 first round pick Matt McClain is playing center this year for UCLA and already batting fifth behind potential 2019 first rounders Chase Strumpf and Michael Toglia. Had the go-ahead bases loaded BB last night on an impressive 9-pitch PA:
  15. Indeed. They already do well with the lesser heralded guys who suddenly are throwing 100, now they're getting in on the top prospect in the last half decade types.
  16. Kevin Made is a Dominican SS with a wiry, athletic frame. Has shown good ability to hit in games despite being skinny and is expected to get a bonus that surpasses $1 million. https://www.instagram.com/p/BoW7xo_Hflb/?utm_source=ig_embed Ben Badler also said the 2019 class is very talented and the market will be highly competitive because every team besides Atlanta is out of the penalty box.
  17. Fangraphs Top 100: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2019-top-100-prospects/ 73. Miguel Amaya 105. Nico Hoerner 119. Aramis Ademan
  18. Fangraphs provided a list of their 6 best prospects for 7/2/19. All 6 were in the exact same order as BA's top 10 list, but the player linked to the Cubs wasn't on there. FG: BA's 7-10: Ronnier Quintero, C, Venezuela - Cubs Ismeal Mena, OF, Dominican Republic - Padres - $2 million Arol Vera, SS, Venezuela, Angels Adael Amador, SS, Dominican Republic - Rockies - $1.5 million Fangraphs is already looking at 2020 and 2021:
  19. Fangraphs draft update: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/updating-the-2019-2020-and-2021-draft-rankings/
  20. John Sickels resurfaced at The Athletic. He put out his top 100 list: https://theathletic.com/808011/2019/02/11/john-sickels-top-100-prospects-for-2019/
  21. 7-10 is a little jumbled. Here's the full list: 1. Miguel Amaya 2. Nico Hoerner 3. Brailyn Marquez 4. Adbert Alzolay 5. Brennen Davis 6. Cole Roederer 7. Matt Swarmer 8. Aramis Ademan 9. Oscar De La Cruz 10. Erich Uelmen 11. Alex Lange 12. Tyson Miller 13. Yovanny Cruz 14. Justin Steele 15. Keegan Thompson 16. Brendon Little 17. Thomas Hatch 18. Michael Rucker 19. Duncan Robinson 20. Nelson Velazques Thanks!
