  1. This was my thought too. The deadline had passed to re-classify but Grindlinger got a special exemption. Wonder if the rumors of getting rid of prep draft picks in future years spurred him on.
  2. Will Gasparino - who was a top 100 prospect coming out of high school - has 3 home runs in his last 2 games. (Roch Cholowsky also has 2 more HRs today.)
  3. Tyler Bell, Chris Hacopian, Ace Reese for college bats. Admittedly some (or all) of them might be long gone before the Cubs pick.
  4. With Gallen re-signing with the Diamondbacks, the Cubs are locked into 23, 62 and 75 before the third down.
  5. Really liked Cam coming out of HS. Would be great for him if he's finally settling in in college. He obviously has 1st round talent.
  6. Happy college baseball opening day! Hoping to get out to Jackie Robinson tonight to see Roch and my undergrad school host my grad school.
  7. 18 scouting directors from MLB clubs gave their opinion on the 2026 draft: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/how-scouting-departments-grade-the-2026-mlb-draft-class/
  8. Yeah, this would be a part of the CBA negotiation, driven by the owners' desire to cut down even more minor league affiliates.
  9. BA added their 31st-40th best prospect for every team. The Cubs: 31. Ethan Flanagan 32. Alexey Lumpuy 33. Grant Kipp 34. Jack Neely 35. Eli Lovich 36. Connor Noland 37. Kade Snell 38. Yahil Melendez 39. Brett Bateman 40. Eli Jerzembeck
  10. I suspect so but do think there’s at least a small chance he could break at Myrtle Beach. I’m hoping he’s there by July at the latest.
  11. BA farm rankings are out: 1. Pirates 2. Cardinals 3. Brewers (I'm not joking about the top 3) 19. Reds 22. Cubs
  12. Yeah, we can say prospect fatigue but the struggles against sliders is very real and very glaring. Big league pitchers will eat up such a big hole in his game. He’s now going on his 4th and final option so he also has little runway left to fix it.
  13. Keith Law's Cubs top 20: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7012816/2026/02/04/chicago-cubs-2026-top-20-prospects-keith-law/ 1. Kevin Alcántara 2. Moisés Ballesteros 3. Jefferson Rojas 4. Jaxon Wiggins 5. Ethan Conrad 6. Pedro Ramírez 7. Jostin Florentino 8. Jonathon Long 9. James Triantos 10. Owen Ayers 11. Kane Kepley 12. Josiah Hartshorn 13. Juan Cabada 14. Dominick 3eid 15. Kaleb Wing 16. Grant Kipp 17. Kade Snell 18. Koen Moreno 19. Ty Southisene 20. Pierce Coppola
