  1. Enrique Oropeza hit his 4th DSL homer today. OPS is 1.277, walking more than he strikes out and BA says the 17 year old's exit velos are good.
  2. Re: México's players - they've played and likely only been in México City (7220') or Guadalajara (5154') since at least the opening of the World Cup on June 11th (they were probably training at elevation before that too). 2-3 consecutive weeks is normally enough time to acclimate to altitude so they should easily have physical advantage over a team like England that gets, what, 4 days at elevation? With regards to Azteca being a tough place to play, you are probably right that the advantage will be muted against England.
  3. I think England is better and I’m not sold on México BUT I speak from experience, 7’200’ is a bitch to run in. And my experience was in the Sierras with good air quality, unlike what they’ll deal with at Azteca. England just doesn’t have time to acclimate (and their last two matches have been second half comebacks, they’ll feel worse in the second half with the altitude).
  4. Scheduled Games (Central Time): Iowa at Toledo, 6:05 pm Knoxville vs. Columbus, 6:00 pm South Bend at Beloit, 6:05 pm Myrtle Beach vs. Hickory, 6:05 pm ACL Cubs vs. ACL Reds, 8:00 pm DSL Cubs Blue at DSL Rojos, 10:00 am DSL Cubs Red vs. DSL Giants Orange, 10:00 am Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Andrew Wantz Knoxville: RHP Nick Dean (39.1 IP, 4.35 ERA, 2.81 FIP, 43 K, 19 BB) South Bend: RHP Naz Mulé (28 IP, 4.03 ERA, 5.16 FIP, 36 K, 20 BB) Myrtle Beach: LHP Pierce Coppola (36 IP, 3.50 ERA, 2.96 FIP, 51 K, 20 BB)
  5. Easily. Those blokes can’t handle the altitude and they might accidentally taste or smell Mexican food too.
  6. horsefeathers that piece of horsefeathers ref. Ignored multiple yellows and then that red. I hope the ref can’t get the John Denver earworm out of his head for the rest of his life.
  7. Myrtle Beach posted a few Instagram pics of Wing and he wasn’t in a cast, sling, brace or anything like that…so fingers crossed.
  8. Rojas had tough sledding considering his position. Plus who can resist the storyline of Mark’s son at the ASG, playing for the rival of one of Mark’s big league teams?
  9. BA also updated their org top 30s. Alcántara graduated. Caple, Beck and Schlaffer were new adds. Southisene at 9 is the shocker (besides their odd preference for Kepley over Wiggins and Conrad):
  10. BA has Reid’s injury as a right shoulder impingement
  11. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7411607/2026/07/01/mlb-futures-game-roster-preview-jesus-made-eli-willits/
  12. BA’s updated top 100. Hartshorn is a top 30 prospect!
  13. Me when Josiah Hartshorn's OPS drops below 1.000 and Ethan Conrad goes to 2/3:
  14. Scheduled Games (Central Time): Iowa at Toledo, 6:05 pm Knoxville vs. Columbus, 6:00 pm South Bend at Beloit, 6:05 pm Myrtle Beach vs. Hickory, 6:05 pm The ACL and DSL Cubs teams have the day off Probable Starters: Iowa: TBD Knoxville: RHP Brooks Caple (34.2 IP, 3.63 ERA, 3.65 FIP, 36 K, 10 BB) South Bend: RHP Mason McGwire (15 IP, 4.20 ERA, 2.84 FIP, 17 K, 6 BB) Myrtle Beach: RHP David Bracho (50.2 IP, 5.33 ERA, 4.59 FIP, 53 K, 37 BB)
  15. Conrad with a 105.1 mph single in his first pro AB!
  16. He’s here and he’s beautiful Only DHing, but still.
  17. I updated my original post to add Lance’s follow-up tweet which has what I feel is a better picture: a plot based on pitching $$ as a % of bonus available (since the Cubs always have lower pools). The Cubs are still way too low, even then. If a draft model values safety, it will inevitably prefer a hitter to a pitcher, and then your farm is continuously devoid of pitching.
  18. Indeed, Logan Poteet and Michael Carico have been promoted to South Bend.
