  1. By the way, no clue why Sergio Mitre didn't start yesterday. He's not scheduled for the next four Iowa games.
  2. C'mon Glendon, limit the damage to one run here.
  3. Just in case there are any issues again or a change of mind I'll wait until tomorrow. I'll ask tonight if it is public knowledge I'll put it up from the hotel. The player did know he was going up and a tickets had been purchased, but I want to wait until I get the go-ahead. I understand, thanks for the heads up though. :)
  4. Looks like the pitching matchup is living up to expectations - Wainwright had 5 Ks through 2 last I checked. (Argh, Todd Helton with the RBI single.)
  5. Daytona up 3-1 in the 5th. Good game thus far from Yorkin. Robinson Chirinos hit a HR. Peoria with 3 thus far in the second to take a 3-1 lead.
  6. I can't see this game being delayed too much, thankfully.
  7. yeah he will be in our bullpen. we have a reliever going up to Daytona on Monday who was supposed to go up yesterday but we couldnt get a player from Boise cause they are in Canada and had transportation issues and Julio didnt want us heading into a 5 game/3 day stretch with just 23 players. Francisco tossed 38 2/3 innings at Mesa. he will probably get in tonight since Nolen cant go, Blevins being held for game 2 tomorrow. Phelps has thrown 2 days in a row, Dickscon 3 of 5 days and Jones was getting some treatment today. So that leaves us Mendez and Layden rested. Are you allowed to tell us who's headed up to (or, geographically speaking, down to) Daytona?
  8. Garner had that same problem in Game 7 of last year's NLCS (and he had Oswalt AND Lidge in the pen).
  9. That's interesting to hear - he wasn't in Mesa for too long. I assume he'll be relieving in Peoria.
  10. .297/.366/.505 in 91 ABs. Exactly! Corey couldn't even hit in AAA. I'm not interested in Schmidt until he learns how to get more people out with his low-90s fastball.
  11. A 22-year old who had already put up a good rookie season. Age isn't the key prerequisite for playing for Dusty, it's experience in the big leagues.
  12. It looks like the beat writers are on the same page these days. Paul Sullivan has virtually the same headline: Despite .339 Average, Murton Heads to AAA Brutal. Well, the writers don't come up with the headlines, so the editors are apparently on the same page. :P
  13. Yeah San Jose is the biggest city in the Bay, but three teams in one metro area (especially when you wouldn't be putting in a third team in bigger metro areas like LA and Chicago)? I doubt a third team within 40 miles of the A's and Giants would work. I have no clue if a third team in New York would work, but the same questions would be there. The problem is that they have one of the worst farm systems in baseball. In their preseason rankings, BA says only Detroit and St. Louis are worse. Funny I would rather have Billy Butler than anyone of our players in the minor leagues. Yeah and Alex Gordon too. Granted he wasn't on the team before the season. Living in KC now I got to see the game against the Indians where they were up 6 in the ninth and then gave up 11. Glass will again pocket over 50 million this year because of revenue sharing and his nonexsistant payroll. Baseball needs to fix that. Butler is a sweet player, but they have to sign Gordon first before you can consider him a part of their farm (and him signing is in doubt, apparently). If Gordon signs, their farm will have improved nicely, just as Detroit and St. Louis's have this year too. Just lose baby. Sisco seems to have slumped a little of late too. any chance they send him to the minors  You had me smiling for a minute then I remembered that they have kept him long enough to be able to send him down...I think. No, he has to be on the big league team all season, but now they can stash him on the DL for the rest of the season and still keep him.
  14. Thanks for taking care of that for me.
  15. That's right, I couldn't remember last night and was hoping you or someone else listening would remember.
  16. Probable Pitching Matchups: Iowa: LHP Rich Hill (4-1, 4.35 ERA) vs. RHP Adam Wainwright (7-9, 4.79 ERA) West Tenn (game 1): RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (8-8, 3.58 ERA) West Tenn (game 2): RHP Federico Baez (4-3, 4.56 ERA) Daytona: LHP Yorkin Ferreras (2-3, 5.57 ERA) vs. Tim Worthington (3-1, 2.43 ERA) Peoria: RHP Jesse Estrada (6-10, 5.25 ERA) @ RHP Philip Anderson (4-1, 2.95 ERA) Boise: LHP Darin Downs (4-3, 2.89 ERA, 46.2 IP, 45 K, 13 BB) Mesa: RHP Angel Guzman (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 5 IP, 7 K, 0 BB) And I leave you with these two tidbits from BA's Daily Dish:

  18. I'd like to see that OPS up a bit higher, though.
  19. 3 GIDPs and 8 LOBs for West Tenn.
  20. Casey McGehee hit in the back of the helmet, but he seems ok and took first. This is the second HBP for the Jaxx - Luis Montanez was hit on his wrist in the first (but he too was ok and walked to first immediately).
  21. Line out to Montanez, runner at third tags and scores. And a popup ends the inning. I might be wrong about the BBs, but I think Marmol is at: 3 IP, 6 ER, 7 H, 3/1. 6-0 Montgomery in the middle of the third.
  22. Marmol is STRUGGLING. Bases loaded, one out, one in in the third. Victor Ramos warming up in the pen.
  23. They've stranded 4 through 2. :( But the opposing pitcher is having all sorts of control problems - I think he has given up 4 BBs and 1 HBP through 2.
  24. Brandon Sing strikes out in his first attempt of the day to break the Jaxx HR record. :(
