    I expected him to decline, but such a massive decline surprised me. I expect the Angels to replace him this offseason with Giles. Giles should go to the Cubs or the Cards. He should, but I don't expect that. Shields better hold this lead...

    No, our first rounder is protected. what rule makes it protected? :? that puts a fuzzy feeling in my heart though. :D The top 15 picks are protected from being lost to FA compensation. Thanks. So if we acquire a type A FA, then the team we deal with only gets the sandwich pick? :) They might get our 2nd or 3rd rounder too. Those aren't protected.
