  1. the amusing thing is that hendry said rusch offered things that not a lot of other guys could offer. pretty sure you don't have to look very hard to find a guy capable of a baa under .302 or a whip under 1.57. He offers a 1.57 WHIP and a .302 BAA for more than most pitchers in baseball. The only good that can come from this signing is my new avatar.
  2. Hendry has a plan. It is to improve the defense and get leadoff hitters (his definition of leadoff hitters, not guys with high OBPs). Maybe even improve the pitching. Then the Cubs can have their smartball too! :(
  3. :Ignoring the W/L debate: (I know, impressive that I'm ignoring it, eh?) We should trade Aramis becaue I like guys who can catch the ball.
  4. See, I was resigned to this last night in the hopes that Dusty and Hendry would be gone after 2006, but posts by BBB and Jon have made me think otherwise. Boo. :(
  5. Done, sorry.
  6. Isn't that what happened two years ago? It's exactly what happened two years ago. Thanks to SC not losing since 2003, no one even remembers that technically LSU won that year's national title. Raisin does :) Of course he remembers. But everyone should remember that. It's far too early to decide, but it'll end up being a team like Miami that lost its game early on. Oh, and I voted for UCLA because I'm extremely biased. :)
  7. That's rough to lose two winnable games in a row to start the season 1-2. Thank goodness they came back against Charlotte to start the seasn.
  8. Oh whoops, I missed that. Michigan is 21 in the AP and Harris and 22 in the Coaches'. Well, Cal is 26 in the AP and Coaches' and 25 in the Harris. So ND's best victory over an opponent is 21-22, UCLA's is 25-26.
  9. what channel? am i getting it? CSN Chicago or whatever. It's part of the free DirectTV thingy for a week, I think. And the Bulls are looking awful in OT. :( Sorry guys: JonMDavis84 (11:05:10 PM): Navin turns on the game and the Bulls start sucking
  10. Agreed that he'll make the adjustments needed, but until he does, I think he'll struggle.
  11. I just realized I'm getting the game.
  12. If UCLA played ND on a neutral field, who wins? Edit: Rais, who would you say UCLA's "best" win came against this season? Probably, ND. Before this weekend's loss, I would have been split, but I'd definitely now say ND - UCLA appears to have lost its confidence and there are rumblings that Karl Dorrell has once again lost the team. "Best" win as in strongest opponent? Cal or Oklahoma. What about ND? Tennessee? Michigan? Neither UCLA or ND has beaten a team that is currently ranked. More importantly, Oregon has one fewer loss than ND - and they both lost to the same team.
  13. Agreed. This has shades of the collapses 1998/1999 and 2001 when UCLA had undefeated teams. UCLA didn't recover at the 1999 Rose Bowl after the Miami loss (a win in Miami would have sent them to the national championship game) and it never recovered after a loss in Stanford (they were 6-0 and ranked #3 at the time, and ended the year 7-4). And that was with a more competent coach. Hopefully the fact that it's Senior Day and the Bruins still have a solid chance at winning the Pac 10 and being BCS eligible will be enough to motivate these guys, but I expect a loss.
  14. Pinto's big problem throughout his career has been his lack of control, and that worsened against AAA hitters in 2005 (he more than doubled his minor league career averages in BB/9 at AAA). But he also was hit hard at AAA: at Iowa, Pinto gave up a .313 BAA (nearly 1.5 more H/IP than his career norms). He was also twice as likely to serve up a HR at AAA compared to AA in 2004 and six times as likely compared to his 2005 AA numbers (some of that increase is to be expected since the PCL is such a tremendous hitter's league). His BB/IP, H/IP and HR/IP leveled out near his strong 2004 West Tenn and 2003 Daytona numbers once he returned to West Tenn. In 2002, Renyel struggled at Daytona with poor numbers similar to his 2005 AAA numbers. He rebounded with a strong 2003 in Daytona. Hopefully Renyel can rebound in a similar manner at Iowa next season. He needs get his walks down to a respectable level and cut down on those hits and HRs. EDIT: Since this MiLB.com story was the topic of another thread from a while back, I merged the two threads.
  15. Your brian tells you that, eh? :P
  16. Hahaha. In the AP, undefeated Alabama is behind 1-loss Miami, 1-loss Oregon is behind two 2-loss teams (Notre Dame and Ohio State) and 1-loss UCLA is behind three 2-loss teams (Notre Dame, Ohio State and Florida). What a joke.
  17. Boy, Grossman needs to get healthy in a hurry.
  18. Arizona will compete with Oregon, Cal and USC next year for Pac 10 supremacy. Mike Stoops is doing great things with that defense and has some stud freshmen on that offense.
  19. And instant replay takes a TD away from UCLA (right call was made). Maurice Drew is still playing, while injured. Not sure why.
  20. Arizona up 52-7 on UCLA. Even worse, UCLA's linebacker Justin London and running back Maurice Drew are hurt.
  21. They won't remain unbeaten after this week.
  22. Spencer Havner drops an interception and Arizona settle for a FG. They're up 31-7 at the half.
