  1. http://image.weather.com/web/radar/us_ord_closeradar_medium_usen.jpg Any rain delay is over an hour away from happening - and even then, it appears the rain is breaking up as it closes in on the greater Chicagoland.
  2. Oh i wouldn't apologize for bringing up politics. If people can talk about "hot chicks" in game threads...or anything else off topic...then surely politics is fair game too. I'm just sayin'.. In reality, we should just be discussing the game and topics very much so related to the game in the game threads. But politics is a far more polarizing topic than "hot chicks" and really will take away from the game, much moreso than most any other topic.
  3. This comment coming from the person who beat me to him in the Roadkill draft. :D I very much remember the no-hitter; that series was going on at the same time as the Djaxx sweep of the Carolina Mudcats. I just hope he doesn't make 10 starts this year so that I can carry him as a minor leaguer going into next year. I don't think you're going to get that lucky, Tim. So far this season in 5 starts (28.1 IP), he has a 1.59 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, 31 Ks and 10 BBs. Not bad.
  4. Basically, what I am saying is Daytona could be the only minor league team not to get rained out today.
  5. It could dry out a bit by 7:05 out there: http://image.weather.com/web/radar/us_tup_closeradar_medium_usen.jpg EDIT: And we have a rain delay in Des Moines for the start of game 1 of Memphis-Iowa: http://image.weather.com/web/radar/us_dsm_closeradar_medium_usen.jpg EDIT #2: Gallagher and the Chiefs will have to deal with rain too: http://image.weather.com/web/radar/us_ord_closeradar_medium_usen.jpg
  6. :D You know I'm excited about that!
  7. As with any Minor League promotion, the idea is to get people out to the park that normally wouldn't be there. The fans will be there regardless of what promotions are going on. With that being said, teams have to figure out ways to get the others out there. Of course. I just don't think that a 1 in 130 chance of any money being paid out is going to achieve that. I don't know that the average person is going to analyze the odds of winning as much as you or some others would.
  8. I'm sort of curious how a team can sign a player pre-draft when they don't have the rights to the player yet. Is it only the team with the #1 overall pick who can do this? Yeah.
  9. Iowa (game 1): LHP Les Walrond (2-1, 2.57 ERA, 21 IP, 16/10) vs. LHP Randy Leek (2-1, 4.05 ERA, 26.2 IP) Iowa (game 2): RHP Bobby Brownlie (0-3, 9.82 ERA, 11 IP, 14/5) vs. RHP Alan Benes (0-1, 7.36 ERA, 7.1 IP) West Tenn: LHP Chris Shaver (1-0, 2.70 ERA, 10 IP, 9/4) vs. RHP Heath Totten (1-0, 3.86 ERA, 23.1 IP) Daytona: RHP Sean Gallagher (2-0, 1.50 ERA, 24 IP, 23/5) Peoria: RHP Scott Taylor: (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 4.2 IP, 4/0)
  10. Not his first one - he and Jonathan Broxton combined for one last year in the SL playoffs. Homer Bailey and Red minor league relievers came close earlier this week and ended up combining for a 1-hitter (Bailey went 6 no-hit innings).
  11. Exactly. Blast you and your holograms, TLR!
  12. When did Orel become a Joe Morgan clone in the announcing booth? :(
  13. And a walk. How dare Corey try when his team is already winning?
  14. Sometimes, you disappoint me.
  15. They lost 3-2, actually. SS Ismael Salas gave up the winning run and took the loss.
  16. Pointing out Raisin. He's the tip of the iceberg. 8) Let's go, Clay!
  17. Haha, they're playing the New Radicals in the background in Jackson.
  18. Iowa: RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (0-2, 4.91 ERA, 22 IP, 18/10) vs. RHP John Webb (0-2, 5.14 ERA, 21 IP) West Tenn: RHP Carlos Marmol (1-1, 3.10 ERA, 20.1 IP, 24/9) vs. RHP Justin Orenduff (1-1, 4.66 ERA, 19.1 IP) Daytona: RHP Justin Berg (0-3, 6.52 ERA, 19.1 IP, 20/10) @. RHP Mark Michael (1-0, 7.50 ERA, 18 IP) Peoria: RHP Todd Blackford (1-0, 5.49 ERA, 19.2 IP, 10/6) @ LHP Travis Wood (2-0, 3.57 ERA, 17.2 IP) Don't forget to check out the West Tenn game, it will be NSBB Night in Jackson - Tim will throw out the first pitch and be in the broadcast booth with Ron Potesta!
  19. That's some garbage from the Heat. Yay Bulls! :D
  20. I've only checked in here in the third quarter, but the reffing is awful shady even when Shaq's out. But a double digit lead is nice. :D
  21. If he's expected back with the cubs around the 12th I'd say a May 1st and May 6th Rehab Start.... I'm hoping to see him on the 7th...but if not, oh well. Do you think he'd really be going anywhere where he'd have to travel alot? Well, Prior made a rehab start in 2004 in Albuquerque, so a road location isn't necesarily eliminated. Didn't he never leave Arizona though? Uhh...he did when the I-Cubs played the Isotopes in Albuquerque, NM. This isn't to say that teams wouldn't rather have their star player rehab at a home park, but they'll do what's best for the player's rehab schedule. Gotcha - what I meant was didn't he just go and meet up with the team in Alberquerque - wasn't that his first rehab start? Regardless, it's fun to be talking about one of our 3 all-stars coming back soon!!!! No, it wasn't - I remember he had at least one at low-A Lansing before getting to AAA.
