  1. IMO, that’s a little bit of a reach, but 2nd place seems right. they were 3-13-1 last year. To leapfrog both the Bears and Vikings would suggest a big/promising offseason to get to #2 which in all likelihood would have to mean 8,9 or 10 wins even in this division. With Jared Goff at QB. I could totally see the NFC taking its turn as the horsefeathers division though where it's just a bunch of bad teams between 6-9 wins, and so the order could be whatever. I mean GB probably still separate from the pack just based on Rodgers, but a small change or injury there and it's ugly.
  2. You could add Cincinnati 2021 to that list as well. A bit more quality at the skill players, but an terrible Oline and D A bit more quality at the skill positions is understating it considerably I'm a bit less muscular than Dwayne Johnson.
  3. Final corresponding moves: Joe Thomas and Caleb Johnson cut/waived. Tajae Sharpe to IR. https://www.chicagobears.com/news/roster-moves-bears-claim-six-players-off-waivers-alex-leatherwood-alabama Wonder if Harry is still destined for IR. Would mean another move and basically has to be for a WR with the current health/depth. Trade in works? Vet FA non-waiver target? Also I think the 2022 UDFA count is at 7 now. I think the "Bears have worst supporting cast" media guys are pretty validated when a team is set to roll out 7 new UDFAs week one.
  4. Incredibly active waiver period for Poles. No guy should feel comfortable with their roster spot.
  5. Yea they'll just pick up the remaining money not the old bonus amortization. It's expensive as far as waiver claims go, but it's nothing in the grand scheme of things. Bears at least 3 years away until they'll realistically have any cap discomfort (and even then, the cap is fake). In a few years when they're extending Fields it won't have mattered they wasted a few million along the way.
  6. A few interesting choices, but pretty tame 53 deadline. Will have at least one move in the next few days if Harry is IR bound.
  7. They all horsefeathering suck so it’s not even worth my time comparing. But yes leaving politics out of it id take Ricketts over JR. just need to decide if it’s worse to be an outward trump supporter or a quiet one. If it's just based on merely dollars, Laura could be out lifting her weight among all Chicago owners. Plus Reinsdorf is pretty split in his political donations. Not sure if he is a quiet Trump supporter. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/inside-the-political-donation-history-of-wealthy-sports-owners/ In any case a damned way to pledge pro sports support. Could take up WNBA fandom I guess.
  8. They're gonna be able to do dick all with that money anyways. Even if I allocate the rookie pool for a number 1 pick, they'll still have like $65M in new cash they have to spend by 2023. But that number could grow if they trade/cut any high priced players under unguaranteed deals for 2023 (i.e. Whitehair, Quinn). Then if they finish better that worst in league it quickly adds up to another 5,10,15 M. Now Poles could obviously spend big in FA to that tune, exclusive of Smith, but if you're looking at roster construct and his behavior in 2022, it's maybe a coin flip that he'd be spending that money on premium positions verse other lower value positions.. like, I don't know ILB. They'll probably be not much over 90% of the minimum cap spend anyways. Maybe 95%. There's diminishing returns of holding back so much spending. Any real money they give Roquan would be paid out before they are even close to having serious cap decisions to make (with an extended Fields, hopefully).
  9. Very funny watching some of the Twitter commentary on this and people struggling to reconcile SEC's status as the unequivocal talent juggernaut relative to their media standing against Big Ten.
  10. Former Bear news. He has to be the worst player to ever actually be traded for twice in a career. How does he have any value?
  11. It's absolutely just negotiating. I understand the consternation given the offseason to this point, but every contract hold out/hold in/whatever looks exactly like this. Eh, I think it's safe to assume that Smith being self represented does make a difference here and adds to the variability. That fact makes it a way different starting point.
  12. I understand the sentiment, but the Bears are so far removed from concerns over roster cap efficiency and showed little signs of life of actually utilizing the boatload of available cash they have, and cash they have to spend before 2024. Guarantee they'll throw worse contracts to meet the cash floor, rather than just making Ro the top paid ILB. And the real guarantees would be done before any Fields second contact money hits too. Even with an extended Ro they'll have boatloads of cash to spend next year. Basically you'll have to believe that Poles can have a 2022 Jaguars like offseason and use it all more efficiently than on an extended Ro.
  13. My brother in law just told me about the trade and I said, "huh, never heard of him" . He assumed I meant the return and I just went with it. 8-[
  14. In additional controversial news
  15. Is there more to this made up conversation than what I read on this blog? Is there a link to page 2 or something? No. Maybe he'll go on that Irish podcast and share more though lol. Sorry I should have warned the link didn't really give any "information" that couldn't be guessed at.
  16. More rumor mill stuff from Bears Fandom's most polarizing blogger: https://www.dabearsblog.com/2022/three-questions-with-redacted-about-the-potential-of-the-2022-chicago-bears
  17. lets table that and circle back after you get a chance to workshop the earth is flat actually so you can't really circle back to anything Its a disc, so you can still circle back to it technically.
  18. Appears to be a salary dump trade for Hawks? Move up 13 slots.
  19. I mean they did do bottom to dynasty in 4 years before right?
  20. Nothing like the transformative impact of parking.
  21. Yea, if Soldier Field had a bunch of supporting amenities and revenue opportunities, plus another 10k seats I kind of doubt they'd be looking seriously at a large scale replacement. Plenty of other stadiums built before SF will well outlast its life because they weren't cluster fucks from the start. In fact if the Bears had just done the indoor McDome, theyd probably have gotten by with just renovations along the way to modernize/add suites and that's it.
  22. I haven't kept up with the NBA cap like I used to many years ago, but aren't they likely need to use additional space in season that would push them over that then?
