  1. Who knows, maybe Kearns could rebound like Barrett did after he got traded here. Still I like him only as option C or D
  2. I won't call Hendry a moran or anything until after the offseason is complete, but I have a feeling that I once it is over, I will. Prove me wrong please Hendry!
  3. Is this supposed to be serious? If it was a serious statement then I'd say keep him away. I don't want a guy whp is gonna let girlfriend issues effect his play.
  4. If thats what they were seeking, I'd counter offer with Mitre and Wellymeyer. Why,Nolasco hasn't pitched a day of ML ball? I know Welly is inconsistent but he has to be worth more than Nolasco. Wellymeyer could probably fit in as a back of the rotation starter (somewhere) next year. Save Welly for another deal. Pie hasn't appeared in the majors yet while Patterson has, but I bet Pie has much more trade value. Same could be said for Macias/Eric Patterson, or Rusch/Gallagher, and many other "experienced" players vs unknowns. Welly's service time hasn't exactly been steller. We'd rather have Nolasco to use in the future in case we have trouble paying for all our guys. They'd rather have Welly who could potentially come in and start/ spot start. Sounds like a perfect fit.
  5. I don't get the hate for Mitre. Yea I'd send him in a deal for a RF, because he otherwise he would likely be a casualty of the 25man roster. But he doesn't suck. He is pretty servicable. He can be a valuable end of the roataion type guy, especially now because he is cheap.
  6. Oh man, I would really love Wilkerson on this team. One of Wilerson/Bradley and one of Abreu/Dunn would be fantastic. Depending on how we resolve 2B/SS would decide who was a better fit between Wilkerson/Bradley
  7. How about going one up and trading for pitching prospects for Dunn and including Murton in a trade for Abreu?? =P~ I like it! Also, I agree with what other have said, Kearns is a good C or D option. Thats only IF we get a solid CF bat and either keep Walker or find another valuable player for 2B(i.e. not Neifi)
  8. Interesting. I could have sworn that someone here had personally watched him play and attested that his D in LF was okay. Also that he was at least average at 1B.
  9. If thats what they were seeking, I'd counter offer with Mitre and Wellymeyer.
  10. I don't know if it would be quite as fun. A lot of the fun of this thread was volleying insults at M4D for his ludicrous "sources", a luxury we wouldn't have if the rumor creator wasn't actually taking his "information" seriously. Yea I suppose you're right. If I have nothing to do tomorrow evening I may whip out my paint 'skills' and throw together a story of the events tonight though, that my be good.
  11. I liked having this ridiculous rumor. Can we have these threads more often? We'll each take turns creating random usernames and then posting ridiculous rumors.
  12. I like it too. Oh, and the deed is done. Thank you for tonight's entertainment. Ah, the letdown after the hanging...now what do we do? Witch hunt? Yea! I accuse all the Cards fans of witchcraft!
  13. If you guys want some more laughs, go read the actual post on cubs.com from that "australian" guy. He used reasoning as to why he heard it before us because over there they are "further ahead timewise".
  14. Are you assuming that Zito is really a Cub? I think it was a joke. Which I don't get, because who would joke around with something like that!
  15. Sadly, we are probably giving this guy exactly what he wants. 40 some posts in about 30min. edit- 50 some posts in less than 30min
  16. At first I was mad for this guy getting my hopes up the little bit he did. But now this is just humorous. I'm loving it.
  17. If you can upgrade RF over a potential Jacque Jones signing, then it might be worth it to slightly downgrade 2B. I still think Soriano is a strong possibility. Loretta is a guy I know the Cubs would have interest in, who seems to be available for relatively cheap. I'd do Walker for Cliff Floyd. Trade for Loretta or Soriano and go get Wilkerson or Bradley Why not just try to get Wilkerson AND Bradley, and forget about tading away Walker? Oh thats right we're the Cubs. (Note: I have never been this negative about the Cubs, but I'm afraid that Hendry has screwed himself over by throwing all his attention at Furcal. Now he could salvage the offseason and still come away with something pretty good, but will probably try without success to land Abreu, while missing out on guys lik Bradley and Wilkerson, therefor having to settle for Burnitz or something) Not saying he shouldn't be looking at Abreu or Dunn, but Don't let other options waste away while doing it.
  18. I'd switch Walker and BRadle in that lineup. And if thats our lineup we better throw some money towards starting pitching.
  19. :( :( :( 2006 Bench Macias Niefi/Cedeno Mabry Blanco Hairston You're probably right. That looks like it could be our bench... :( :( :(
  20. I believe that his agent wants to see what Damon gets before he starts looking for the type of extension he is loooking for. We're talking franchise CF here. I'd say take whatever Damon gets times 1.5 in both years and money.
  21. I'm sure you didn't mean anything by that comment, but I find it sort of offensive. The way its states makes it seem like you're saying non-premium members are somehow less important, or don't care as much. If I had the money I would gladly pay for Premium, it's a great site. I have posted here a while, since 2003. Eventually maybe I'll be able to fork over the money for Premium, but for the time being, I'm just a 'regular' member. Hopefully its okay for guys like me to 'post nonsense' here. I don't think you should take it personally. It was an attack on the posts that those two made. It really didn't have much to do with non-premium members vs. premium members. It had to do with inflamitory posts that had little basis in reality. Its what I figured, but when you attack someone/thing and also mention non-premium, it sure looks like a generalized accusation of non-premium members not contributing to the board as much.
  22. Do you consider 18-1 undefeated? Then no. There's a significant chance they can go 16-0, but I still think that Cincy, Chicago or Carolina can potentially beat them in a playoff matchup. I highly doubt Chicago could beat them. I agree. I love my Bears, but we likely wouldn't beat them. We could probably hold them to 14-17 points. However, I'm afraid that if we did do that, theres a good chance that we only put up one score or so. It is the NFL though, no game is a guarantee. And the Bears have a chance if their D steps up REAL big.
  23. great post. i agree 100%. of course some know-it-alls on this board said no way giles doesnt go to the highest because its all about $ but apparently they were incorrect. When the board starts working better I'd appreciate it if either of you to coould produce even one post where anyone here said any of the things I've bolded. If you can find even one post I will pay for each of you to have a months worth of premium membership. =; you big spender :) It is a month more then they've paid Tim for the privilage of posting that nonsense here.
