  1. I remember we used to have a real good thread about tracking potential Japanese players to be posted. Could anyone dig up the old thread or start a discussion in here.
  2. Well I haven't seen that fight, so I can't really comment on it. ladies and gentlemen, Joe Morgan. nothing against you WF22, i just had to. I don't get it. :-? Any time Morgan is asked to give an opinion of something not involving his playing career, he says "I haven't seen enough of him to say" He does not watch any games he doesn't broadcast. As long as we're picking on Joe Morgan who deserves it and not me :)
  3. Well I haven't seen that fight, so I can't really comment on it. ladies and gentlemen, Joe Morgan. nothing against you WF22, i just had to. I don't get it. :-? I think its cause you already commented on it, and now saying you cant cause you havent seen it? I think that is it anyway lol. I commented on the dugout fight, and he was talking about the clubhouse one, so I didn't. I think the explanation above your post is the one.

  5. Well I haven't seen that fight, so I can't really comment on it. I'm not saying its right, but it happens, and we don't have to trade two good players because of it.
  6. From that angle it looks like Barrett took a step towards Z, but you can't tell for sure if it was an agressive step like he was going to hit him, an agressive step like he was going to get into his face, or neither. Z reacted too quickly for us to find out. And do people really worry this much about a little fighting? I'm not trying to support it and there should be some ramifications, but people tend to get passionate about sports like this. I know just playing H.S. football there were times in practice me and a guy could get into each others faces similar to that. At the end of the day we were still fine and we both were gonna do what was best for the team. Michael Jordan was a competitive S.O.B. who layed a punch right in Steve Kerr's nose during a practice. Sometimes grown men get pissed off. If we weren't so bad no one would care. If we could solve some other things that are much bigger problems on the team Zambrano and Barrett would be quite useful in helping us win, even though they both are struggling. I don't get the trade them feelings.
  7. I agree. Its not like we have to be much better than .500 to take the division. Then you just hope you can get hot at the right time. A couple of small trades could probably help things. If nothing else let the firesale occur after Hendry is gone.
  8. Yea the weird part is that they already had the lead in the top of the 9th. Its not against the rules, so he might as well do it I guess.
  9. I think its hilarious because we are still second in the conference and have actually gained ground on the Brewers lately.
  10. me too everyone else join
  11. Their newest registered member is "JuanPierreIsGay"
  12. I'm 100% sure I could make a stronger throw than that. The location might be a little trouble, but just give me a little practice.
  13. It was described pretty well, but here is a map for a visual too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/snetsrak43/mao.png It's right by St. Louis University, where I go, so its really weird to think about how close this happened to me.
  14. One of the recent Dugouts has some interesting theories on injuries we might see. Although, they all relate to Prior, who they love ripping on lately.
  15. First thing that popped into my mind was Mickey Morandini.
  16. Another DB Bears? okay..... ?
  17. Awesome, Wolfe!
  18. but it still comes in behind "playing with Hank Aaron." Who played with Hank Aaron? I bet that was cool. Dusty did. No way. Way. Aaron was still playing with the Braves during Dusty's early years as a player. I heard he was on deck when Aaron hit a home run or something. Wow, he should manage with that type of experience.
  19. OK, Eckstein (sort of) and Young. Two out of 30. Any others? Sort of? He played a whopping 17 games at SS in his minor league career. http://thebaseballcube.com/players/E/David-Eckstein.shtml
  20. It would be silly to get rid of him now, but we better change his use until he proves he can be semi-effective. Use Cotts as the number 1 lefty, Ohman only verse lefties, and Eyre when his potential crap performance cant cost the game.
  21. SOLD! Lieber hasn't been the same since 2002 with the Cubs, and he is making $7.5, although it is up after that. I'll pass because we also lose Ohman who despite his struggles has proven to be an effective LOOGY.
  22. Well I can't say I blame him on most of those issues. If I wasn't resigned by the team I've played my whole career for and gave everything for, I'd be a little mad/bitter. Players do that all the time. I'd rather a player get pissed about not being resigned than ditch the team to make a few extra million like so many players these days do. the whole "gave everything I had" argument does not pass muster with me. Dude was WELL COMPENSATED for his time here. It wasn't like he played five seasons pro bono. And he was what? 36 or 37 when the Cubs let him go? If we re-signed a fading 37-year-old 1b with no pop for nostalgia reasons, this board will blow up. Decisions like that are what have caused years of mediocrity. Well he did still put up good numbers in 2001, similar to his career numbers. We did get similar production out of Matt Stairs though. He had the huge power drop off in 2002, but was moderately productive with a decent OBP. At that time, however, we actually got good numbers from Fred McGriff. Then he absolutely hit a wall and sucked in 2003 in just 66 games. So you could argue that 2001 wouldn't have been so cut and dry, but after that I would agree yes. 2001 Grace: .298 .386 .466 @ $3M Stairs: .250 .358 .462 (128 G) @ $3.2M McGriff: .282 .383 .559 (49 G) @ $6.5M prorated *Stairs only spent 89 GS at 1B, Zuleta (.217 .288 .415 23 GS) and Coomer (.261 .316 .390 14 GS) also saw time at 1B. Pretty close to a wash in terms of money spent and production. Our corner OF was fine with Rondell White and Sammy, so Stairs wasn't going to play anywhere else, so it would have been one or the other. 2002 Grace: .252 .351 .386 @ $3M McGriff: .273 .353 .505 @ $7.25M A bit of extra money and an extra 100+ in SLG. I don't know what Grace wanted at the time, but a two year deal with the second year seeing him as a part time player (handing off the reigns to Hee Seop Choi perhaps?) would have been fine by me, compared to what we actually did. We had some decent power at positions like 2B and SS in 2002, so we might have been able to take less power at 1B. We also had some decent SP that year (other than the horrid Jason Bere), so a 1B with weak power wouldn't have stopped us if we had a decent bullpen or good bench. Things the extra $4.25M from McGriff (possibly more if Grace would have given a home town discount) might have been able to patch up a few of those things. In conclusion? I don't know if I agree or disagree with you, but we were making bad decisions anyways.
