  1. Just for reference, averaging it out, this is what the Bears dressed last year (had to calculate this myself based on GP, but it should be accurate... missing .0625 which must account for the rare occurance of a player dressing, but not playing any plays): DB 9.25 DL 7 LB 5.625 OL 7 QB 2 RB 3 ST 3 TE 3.3125 WR 4.75 This year, you will get one extra spot, instead of the emergency QB spot. We have room for another WR still, if we decide to go that route.
  2. If Williams is handed the job over Bennett, sure. Bennett has good promise, but is still a large question mark. If he can beat out Williams, I think he will. Taking away special teams players you probably have 20 roster spots available on offense to dress each weak. If you can use up only 10 with QB and OL (3/7 or 2/8) you have 10 skilled spots. 5-WR 2-RB 2-TE 1-RB/FB/TE Now if you dress 3 QB and 8 OL, you probably can only keep 4 WR, so we may end up bitching that we didn't sign a Sims-Walker so that we could dress a 3rd QB, but we can start that when we get to it.
  3. It's a roster spot that could have been used for an impact player on offense. Haha...ok. I think with a 90 man training camp roster, we can manage to squeeze in a ST guy. They don't dress 90 on game day. But they do get to dress 46 now. With a likely shift in our use of TE and the possibility of only keeping/dressing 2 QB, there is plenty of room for one more WR on the team. It probably means Bennett gets shafted a bit, so the question becomes Bennett vs Williams, essentially.
  4. Anyone know if there are websites with detailed stats about number of 4 WR sets and 2 TE sets and such things for each team?
  5. Well they basically have 5 WR now: Williams, Knox, Hester, Bennett, Hurd. We may not take a FB again, and probably 2/3 of our TE will be blocking TEs. Davis could get some time as a receiver, but will have a lesser impact than Olsen. And we could go back to carrying only 2 QBs. So I don't think its out of the question we could bring in another WR as an impact player. Not saying they are planning to, but there is roster space for it. Hurd does't effect that possibility.
  6. I don't have a problem with taking a chance on Williams in a vacuum. Its a decent risk to take. My problem moreso is the context of it with all the other moves. I have a feeling this is being made and not much else will be done to the offense. We could use another WR (Sims Walker) and at least one starter on the line still.
  7. I believe the timeline is for him to end up back on the DL in April 2012.
  8. My understanding is that Reinsdorf did everything in his power to block the Grizz from moving into Chicago. I imagine he'd do the same to any other team. Doesn't sound like a realistic idea for Charlotte to leave. And once upon a time the Hornets were a pretty successful franchise there. And from things I've read, they have a bad debt situation. The article mentioned being Chicago's version of Clippers.... The Clippers have zero debt. That has to be extremely helpful in keeping them profitable, along with keeping costs down of course.
  9. Deron Williams signs a contract in Turkey (but he can opt out of it if/when the NBA returns. http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/214617/Report_Deron_Williams_To_Sign_With_Besiktas
  10. I'm glad the Cubs suck so bad that they can help old men earn pensions. Yay.
  11. Saw this picture. Shows who's still remaining from the Cup team: http://www.stevedangle.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/tumblr_lnh25miMY11qiswb6o1_r1_500.jpg Also, I'm a very casual Blackhawks fan, but if these two lockout keep up and the Cubs playing like this, I'm going to have to seriously get into hockey.
  12. Sign Kerry Wood to cheap one year deal. Trade to contender for prospect. Reapeat as needed. Profit!
  13. I'm gonna go with: The paper doesn't have many readers. He will probably get more reads via this website than through people just reading the paper.
  14. Wait, he was paid to write that?
  15. So according to a "source" the NBA will take back their $62M flex cap option and push for a $45M hard cap once a lockout begins. I really hope this "source" is just a negotiating tactic, otherwise there won't be a 2011/12 NBA season. http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/214454/Source_Owners_Will_Push_For_$45_Million_Hard_Cap_Once_Lockout_Begins
  16. I'm coming into the question late, but it kind of depends on if average is defined as the mean or median in mathematical terms. If you have a given position with top heavy talent the mean will be higher than the median. So if you are looking for mean production, certain positions will have more or less players that fit that description. If you just are just looking for the median, then theoretically yes, it would be just as easy at each position (assuming every player is equally available, which obviously isn't true, but can vary just based on the on the particular off season)
  17. Lie about their sexuality and say they are gay. For credibility.
  18. Bulls should try and sign David Lighty. A month ago he was higher rated than Marshon Brooks who everyone is gushing over now. Shot nearly 50% from the field and 42% from 3. Not real big. Not real athletic. Could turn into a decent role player a few years down the road though. Will probably do a little of everything.

  20. Just in case you were tracking the 28th pick: Miami (from Miami via Toronto via Chicago via Minnesota) LOL and #31 Minnesota (from Minnesota via Miami)
  21. Bismak screams bust. The fact Jordan just picked him confirms it. And hey, that Charlotte pick keeps looking potentially better and better.
  22. KBerg_CBS Ken Berger A swap of PGs -- Andre Miller from Portland to Denver for Ray Felton -- "looks like it could happen," source says KBerg_CBS Ken Berger Portland (21) and Denver (22) also would swap first-rounders in Miller-Felton deal, source says
  23. Where are you getting this?
  24. Not really an off season move, but Ron Artest has submitted documents to legally change his name. http://www.tmz.com/2011/06/23/ron-artest-world-peace-name-change-los-angeles-lakers-l-a/ World Peace... God Bless you Ron, I mean World.
  25. I don't know enough about specific players to comment on Singler, but regarding team need, there isn't a single position or skill set that the Bulls have too much. Yes that is role player range, but the Bulls do go ten deep currently. You might find a guy to step in right away, yet he may not contribute for a couple years either.
