    Yea, its one thing to not get along with the guy flipping burgers next to you, its another thing when the guy next to you breaks the flipper over his leg everytime he burns a patty and now just walked out the last time it happened. You could use that exact quote to talk about Z and his emotions. He has passed the point of his emotions outweighing his work performance. If this was 2005 Z, I'd be inclined to still defend his presence on the team, but at this point, its kind of like "whatever". That 18M might as well be a sunk cost for next year. Anyways I'm fine with any trade that doesn't extend financial commitment past 2012 or increase cost for 2012. My hope would basically just to be expense nuetral.

    Because I've accepted that if we can't move him, we'll cut him. And every other team knows it too. I mean, fine we don't have to start at 18M, but its gonna take 14M+ IMO.

    I say offer up 18M minus a minimum contract (essentially what we'd be paying him if we waived him and he signed with another team) and take the best prospect(s) anyone is willing to part with. Money wise it will be like we waived him, but we get a prospect, even if its a low ceiling guy.

    This talk of making Hendry a scouting guy is ridiculous. I think Hendry would just walk. If we're gonna keep Hendry but get him out as GM, there is only one way, and its up.

    Well we aren't exactly deep at LB. He'd basically be competeing against a couple UDFA. May the best man win? Wait- Just realized they are talking about converting him to DE. What? He's like 230 pounds. If they are looking at DL I wonder if Woottons injury could be worse than initially thought.

    Enderle looked terrible to me. Granted it was his first pro game, but moving ahead Hanie on the depth? Ugh.

    I too would have a concern in the context of too many years, but not overall yearly value. And of course there's really only a few guys worth the real big money.

    All those answers by Cutler are very media friendly. He's giving the "good answers" there. Maybe he will try to help his image. Not that I care, really, but at least the idiots will start on something else.

    Well, surprised, but whatever. I hope Spencer can play guard if Williams sucks because it would be silly to shift Garza away from C if that is indeed the plan.

    First official depth chart released. And we really don't have too much depth. After you project the 45 man active roster its almost exclusively UDFA rookies or other young guys. We have cap space. We didn't use it on star power. Lets use it on veteran depth. Possibly our position with the worst depth (crazy cuz just a year or two ago it was full of depth).

    I know Angelo doesn't always make the best decisions, but I think he's smart enough to not trade away cheap, decent production at a position of need for a low draft pick. At least not this year. When he is a year away from maybe not being cheap (ie- Olsen) maybe, but not when he's two years away.

    I'd be fine with turf, but other northern cities seem to maintain grass fine. Bears are at a disadvantage in sharing their field, but still. Doesn't Green Bay have some hyrbid turf? Its like real grass with artificial stuff in it to help it hold up. Maybe thats a solution to look into as well.

    Park district wants to do the field turf. The Bears have not agreed to let them. I was under the impression the field district wants to keep natural grass because international soccer teams prefer it, and after the Bears, that's the next biggest source of income from Soldier Field.

    Move them to some far west suburb and out of Soldier Field.

    I'm not angry that they didn't spend all their cap space. You look at the most successful franchises and they build through the draft, spending to retain those players and then adding in free agents or trades as needed. Other than not getting a top notch OL, I can't fault them for what they did. There were some good players, but no one like a Peppers. Osi Umenyiora via trade would be the best thing they could do, and who knows maybe that still happens. My complaints on the Bears management is on many other things than this FA period.

    Hmm interesting. I'm curious though what an attempt is. There has to be some pretty subjective measurement there. Have to think a stat like this is a little like tracking errors in baseball. A player might never make an error, but if he is not even making a play on 10% of balls he should because of below average athleticism, errors don't tell the story of his defensive prowess. Some players are going to have attempts that other players couldn't dream of getting. And so they may miss some attempts, but are making a bigger impact, even if they are just slowing down a runner. Only if you could isolate similar attempts could it be completely conclusive.
