  1. All those answers by Cutler are very media friendly. He's giving the "good answers" there. Maybe he will try to help his image. Not that I care, really, but at least the idiots will start on something else.
  2. Well, surprised, but whatever. I hope Spencer can play guard if Williams sucks because it would be silly to shift Garza away from C if that is indeed the plan.
  3. First official depth chart released. And we really don't have too much depth. After you project the 45 man active roster its almost exclusively UDFA rookies or other young guys. We have cap space. We didn't use it on star power. Lets use it on veteran depth. Article on best available FAs: http://nfl.si.com/2011/08/10/theres-still-talent-to-be-found-in-free-agent-market/ Lots of LBs on there. Possibly our position with the worst depth (crazy cuz just a year or two ago it was full of depth).
  4. i thought he said he was gonna be a cop after he retired Him and a million security guards would love to know of any municipalities hiring if you know any.
  5. I know Angelo doesn't always make the best decisions, but I think he's smart enough to not trade away cheap, decent production at a position of need for a low draft pick. At least not this year. When he is a year away from maybe not being cheap (ie- Olsen) maybe, but not when he's two years away.
  6. World Peace going to England to spread his message of world peace to the rioters, obviously.
  7. Eh, I don't know if I can handle any portrayal of Cutler that doesn't conclude that he is the spawn of Satan.
  8. Does it really mean anything this early on?
  9. I'd be fine with turf, but other northern cities seem to maintain grass fine. Bears are at a disadvantage in sharing their field, but still. Doesn't Green Bay have some hyrbid turf? Its like real grass with artificial stuff in it to help it hold up. Maybe thats a solution to look into as well.
  10. Park district wants to do the field turf. The Bears have not agreed to let them. I was under the impression the field district wants to keep natural grass because international soccer teams prefer it, and after the Bears, that's the next biggest source of income from Soldier Field.
  11. Move them to some far west suburb and out of Soldier Field.
  12. I'm not angry that they didn't spend all their cap space. You look at the most successful franchises and they build through the draft, spending to retain those players and then adding in free agents or trades as needed. Other than not getting a top notch OL, I can't fault them for what they did. There were some good players, but no one like a Peppers. Osi Umenyiora via trade would be the best thing they could do, and who knows maybe that still happens. My complaints on the Bears management is on many other things than this FA period.
  13. This league still happening?
  14. Hmm interesting. I'm curious though what an attempt is. There has to be some pretty subjective measurement there. Have to think a stat like this is a little like tracking errors in baseball. A player might never make an error, but if he is not even making a play on 10% of balls he should because of below average athleticism, errors don't tell the story of his defensive prowess. Some players are going to have attempts that other players couldn't dream of getting. And so they may miss some attempts, but are making a bigger impact, even if they are just slowing down a runner. Only if you could isolate similar attempts could it be completely conclusive.
  15. Supposedly the Giants want a 1st rounder. That won't happen, but that's what they want. 2nd and 4th?
  16. Gholston is a good pickup, in theory. It makes sense that a disappointing OLB from a 3-4 could do better as a straight up end in a 4-3 scheme. But if that was the case, he would have showed something as a pass rusher with the Jets. And he showed nothing. Marinelli has been given lots of credit as a guy who can get the most out of players. I think that reputation has taken a hit with the Bears but he's going to have to work all his magic to get anything out of Gholston this year.. I don't think it's all that much of a reach that the correct role/position in the correct system with the right coach could make him a decent guy to have in the rotation. Expecting him to become much more than that is when it gets really unlikely, IMO. I think he would struggle to get a top 7 DL spot, which is what he needs to do to be "in the rotation". He could make the 53 man and never dress though. Only other way is if he can make a special teams impact.
  17. So Spencer was drafted when Ruskell was in Seattle right? This makes sense. Will this guy be an upgrade to Kreutz or not?
  18. Davis isn't the starter. Spaeth is. Davis will be an after thought in the offense. I'm almost positive I read Lovie say Davis will now be the starter. Well I don't think Lovie will have the final say, so I'll be surprised if it stays that way. He's the only returning TE so he gets it now by default, but I'm sure it won't be long before we get articles about Martz raving how Spaeth is the TE his system needs.
  19. Davis isn't the starter. Spaeth is. Davis will be an after thought in the offense.
  20. Barber signing is interesting. He won't be here with Taylor. I don't think either of them play ST and the third RB will definitely need to.
  21. First Rough Draft Depth Chart. Early, but you know, whatever. *Rookies, ?Not signed (yet) Others mean mostly guys I've not heard of and likely not a factor (but you never know) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/snetsrak43/depthchart.png
  22. Trying to come up with a likely list of the 61 players (53 active, 8 P.S.) players and I have to say the Bears roster seems empty. I kept a lot of UDFA on that list and its only 53. Granted we may see more signings and unkown guys will come up (seems like every year we have a CB come out of nowhere to make the roster). NAME POS Linnenkohl, Alex * C Kruetz, Olin C Bowman, Zackary CB Graham, Corey CB Jennings, Tim CB Jones, Ryan * CB Moore, D.J. CB Moore, Joshua CB Tillman, Charles CB Melton, Henry DE Peppers, Julius DE Wootton, Corey DE Adams, Anthony DT Harrison, Marcus DT Idonije, Israel DT Paea, Stephen * DT Akoye, Amobi DT Toeaina, Matt DT Ta'ufo'ou, Will FB Louis, Lance G Omiyale, Frank G Garza, Roberto G/C Williams, Edwin G/C Gould, Robbie K Briggs, Lance LB Roach, Nick LB Thomas, J.T. * LB Urlacher, Brian LB Mannelly, Patrick LS Podlesh, Adam P Cutler, Jay QB Enderle, Nathan * QB Hanie, Caleb QB Bell, Kahlil RB Forte, Matt RB Taylor, Chester RB Conte, Chris * S Harris, Chris S Steltz, Craig S Wright, Major S Carimi, Gabe * T Webb, J'Marcus T Williams, Chris T Davis, Kellen TE Smith, Andre * TE Spaeth, Matt TE Bennett, Earl WR Fantuz, Andy WR Hester, Devin WR Hurd, Sam WR Knox, Johnny WR Sanzenbacher * WR Williams, Roy WR
  23. Its funny because I think a lot of people wanted him gone, but at this point, I'm not sure there are better options.
  24. Peppers, Idonije, Paea, Adams, Wotton, Toenia, Melton... who else am I forgetting? Feels like we could use another piece. We'll probably dress 7, so you'd want at least 3-4 more for camp competition, practice squad fodder and the inactive list.
  25. I'm under the impression that the 46th spot can be used for any position you like. Indianapolis has kept only 2 QBs for years. The Bears did two years ago, and likely would have this past season if not for Hanie's pre-season injury. And really, you can still keep a third QB, he just won't dress or be available to play on game day. Mybe I misunderstood the new rule though. It would seem silly for the NFL to say you get 46 roster spots and 3 must be used on QBs.
