    They probably don't lose out, though amazingly it doesn't take much fiddling to have a 7 win wild card team in the NFC.

    The only hope is that firing Fred was a hail Mary effort by Garpax and their asses are on the line. Wishful thinking. And even if it's true, since the Reinsdorfs are loyal we probably just get to roll the dice on a former Bull anyways instead of going after the best possible replacement regardless of past connections.

    I was irrationally irritated that he: 1) intercepted the ball instead of knocking it down on a 4th down conversion (totally understandable instinct, though) 2) gave himself up instead of trying to kill time / change field position running the ball But mostly I was happy that it sealed the win. I guess point 2 is partially offset by a conservative nature to not run around and get stripped, which was what my initial reaction was. But then, see point 1 and just knock it down. Meh.

    They have a decent chance to because once the route is on and the D goes soft prevent in the 4th they'll probably let up an easy score.

She had been promoted to an associate coach this off season, but sounds like she'll have in increased presence.

    That's actually a pretty accurate description of Chase Daniel all day long. At no time do I recall Daniel looking comfortable in that game. I don't know if it was the field conditions, the weather, lost confidence after the first pick 6, the defense getting some pressure early or a combination of everything I just mentioned, but he just looked terrible in every aspect of his job. I get that he is rusty from doing nothing more than holding a clipboard for the last dozen or so years, but he was painful to watch. And yet I still believed he looked notably better than at least 5-6 bears backups over the last 15 years So I wanted to actually come up with what this list looked like: Craig Kenzel Jonathan Quinn Chad Hutchinson Todd Collins Caleb Hanie Would be the clear bottom 5. Hanie and Collins saw their time in pretty limited action in 2010-11 (though notably with the critical playoff game against GB). Those other 3 all occurred IN A SINGLE SEASON (2004). I'm retroactively awarding Lovie Smith Coach of the Year award for winning 4 games in his inagurual season with those sad sacks starting 13 games. Craig Kenzel has a winning QB record!

    or maybe by not fumbling 12 times. They wouldn't have needed much out of Mitch to win that game by 10. They may have not needed much, but probably still would have gotten it all, and that would be with him tucking and running and not avoiding contact on a tender throwing shoulder.

    Also if Trubisky had won us that game it was probably by running all over a wet field and taking more big hits. I'm okay with holding him back and letting him heal up right.

    But seriously, maybe they feel like that's the scenario where they can get away with a lane duck situation and save some money in what should continue to be a couple worthless tank seasons anyways, then go big in 2021? First it was hot duck, then it was chill duck... I know I had a typo, but I don't know if I should understand this joke.

    It is kind of weird though. Reports had just surfaced that Hoiberg was being evaluated on his job this much, which if you remember started 3 days ago. Wonder if Hoiberg didn't like this much and forced the issue now. Maybe gives him a leg up to angle for a nice college job.

    6 championships the last 28 years, best record in the league with Rose recently, got rid of Butler at the right time, drafted pretty well for where they were at, and have been at the top of league attendance total for years. Weren’t winning in the East with LeBron. The Bulls have a solid core right now too. yeah. i don't love paxson, but i think he's about replacement level, maybe even a little above. they've had some pretty good draft picks throughout his tenure. did a good job making the best of striking out on the big guys in 2010. etc. nothing you can really do about not being able to luck into a generational talent, and i firmly believe that that part of building an nba team is almost entirely luck driven. i'd rather have someone smarter and more analytically minded running the basketball operations, but i really don't see him as a disastrously bad executive like some are portraying him as. i know there've been some procedural missteps though and stuff like that. edit - somehow glossed over the 6 championship mention in the quoted post. that's silly. Yea there probably isn't a ton wrong with Pax, it's just a giant cluster f of a organizational setup.
