    And apparently there are tons of teams interested in Bari...? I'm assuming best case the swap is a similar contract and cash. Worse case is a long term crappy contract and cash. Worst case is a passable veteran on a long contract who is nonetheless good enough to play and help win some games.

    Even if it does, will it change anything? The Bulls have seemingly been awful at maintaining elationships since JR bought the team. I know the egos of MJ, Jackson, etc were blamed before, but maybe it's just this crappy organization.

    Off the cuff, what my "wave a magic wand" plan would be. Keep the draft, but reduce it down to like 15 rounds and make it a early entry system only for HS or JC prospects. Those who don't get drafted can elect FA right away or delay it for 3 years (or 21st Bday whichever is sooner) . Current process as far as 40 man/rule 5 eligibility for HS draftees or HS FAs is cut by 1 year. For college FAs, they must be added to the 40 man the off season after they sign or be eligible for the Rule 5. 40 man rule with the 3 option years remains. International FA would have same control rules as HS FA and the international pool money would go away. Eliminate the pre-arb cost controlled years except for the rookie year, but tack on one extra arb year which is a restricted right FA year. In that final arb year, a player and team go to arb and the player can elect FA if they lose arbitration, but will have anywhere from a 1st - 3rd round draft penalty from the signing team depending on the total amount of the team's offer. Obviously arb hearings need to move way up in the off-season. All other FA compensation is eliminated.

    The only hope is that firing Fred was a hail Mary effort by Garpax and their asses are on the line. Wishful thinking. And even if it's true, since the Reinsdorfs are loyal we probably just get to roll the dice on a former Bull anyways instead of going after the best possible replacement regardless of past connections.

    I was irrationally irritated that he: 1) intercepted the ball instead of knocking it down on a 4th down conversion (totally understandable instinct, though) 2) gave himself up instead of trying to kill time / change field position running the ball But mostly I was happy that it sealed the win. I guess point 2 is partially offset by a conservative nature to not run around and get stripped, which was what my initial reaction was. But then, see point 1 and just knock it down. Meh.

    They have a decent chance to because once the route is on and the D goes soft prevent in the 4th they'll probably let up an easy score.

She had been promoted to an associate coach this off season, but sounds like she'll have in increased presence.

    That's actually a pretty accurate description of Chase Daniel all day long. At no time do I recall Daniel looking comfortable in that game. I don't know if it was the field conditions, the weather, lost confidence after the first pick 6, the defense getting some pressure early or a combination of everything I just mentioned, but he just looked terrible in every aspect of his job. I get that he is rusty from doing nothing more than holding a clipboard for the last dozen or so years, but he was painful to watch. And yet I still believed he looked notably better than at least 5-6 bears backups over the last 15 years So I wanted to actually come up with what this list looked like: Craig Kenzel Jonathan Quinn Chad Hutchinson Todd Collins Caleb Hanie Would be the clear bottom 5. Hanie and Collins saw their time in pretty limited action in 2010-11 (though notably with the critical playoff game against GB). Those other 3 all occurred IN A SINGLE SEASON (2004). I'm retroactively awarding Lovie Smith Coach of the Year award for winning 4 games in his inagurual season with those sad sacks starting 13 games. Craig Kenzel has a winning QB record!
