    Basically every loss for the Bears can be chalked up to one what if play, no?

    As a noon game, it's doubtful to be locked in at kickoff, but may not be the end of the game. If I’m looking at this, the Vikings would need a win next week and then Washington, Carolina and Philly would all need at least one loss (Washington in Week 16, Carolina and Philly either this week or next). Washington is at Tennessee, Carolina has home games against NO and Atlanta, while Philly has this current game in LA and at home against Houston. (Also Minny is at Detroit). I don’t think it’s that big of a stretch that they clinch next week A win by WAS or PHI next week (if PHI holds on tonight) or a MIN loss makes week 17 technically relevant. A less likely Car win tomorrow and next week does as well. A SEA loss next week also keeps things open in the other direction (Min winning 5 seed). I certainly don't think it's a stretch that they clinch next week, but there are so many paths that lead to them not clinching and basically only one that does. I think I'd take the field.

    If it's locked in as Bears/Vikings for the first round of the playoffs, that game is definitely going to be very much like last game of the pre-season. As a noon game, it's doubtful to be locked in at kickoff, but may not be the end of the game.

    Yeah, that's usually a 1-2 week injury, so we *should* be in the clear. The question now is how much should Nagy take his foot off the gas the next two weeks. Play next week like normal and them treat week 17 like a preseason game? Or knock both teams in the teeth and hopefully the Vikings completely out of it Honestly the Vikings could lose out and still have decent odds. That game has a good chance of not mattering.

    Games to root for the rest of this week and next for maximum week 17 madness; Tonight' SF w over SEA PHI w over LAR CAR w over NO NE w over PIT Week 16 DET over MIN TEN over WAS LAC over BAL IND over NYG PHI over HOU MIA over JAX CLE over CIN PIT over NO ARI over LAR CHI over SF CAR over ATL KC over SEA DEN over OAK TB over DAL Ties could create more madness in certain situations as well.

    Playing around with the ESPN playoff simulator and it seems the Cowboys have the upper hand on tie breaker. However, the Bears just need 1 of 2 to clinch.

    Needed to understand this in the context if the nearly equally helpless Bears QB history. They gave had these seasons more since 1987 (Kramer, Grossman, Cutler(x4), Trubisky. They gave however done it less overall, 12 to 13, in their entire history. When Kramer did it in 95, it was the first in 30 years.

    And apparently there are tons of teams interested in Bari...? I'm assuming best case the swap is a similar contract and cash. Worse case is a long term crappy contract and cash. Worst case is a passable veteran on a long contract who is nonetheless good enough to play and help win some games.

    Even if it does, will it change anything? The Bulls have seemingly been awful at maintaining elationships since JR bought the team. I know the egos of MJ, Jackson, etc were blamed before, but maybe it's just this crappy organization.

    Off the cuff, what my "wave a magic wand" plan would be. Keep the draft, but reduce it down to like 15 rounds and make it a early entry system only for HS or JC prospects. Those who don't get drafted can elect FA right away or delay it for 3 years (or 21st Bday whichever is sooner) . Current process as far as 40 man/rule 5 eligibility for HS draftees or HS FAs is cut by 1 year. For college FAs, they must be added to the 40 man the off season after they sign or be eligible for the Rule 5. 40 man rule with the 3 option years remains. International FA would have same control rules as HS FA and the international pool money would go away. Eliminate the pre-arb cost controlled years except for the rookie year, but tack on one extra arb year which is a restricted right FA year. In that final arb year, a player and team go to arb and the player can elect FA if they lose arbitration, but will have anywhere from a 1st - 3rd round draft penalty from the signing team depending on the total amount of the team's offer. Obviously arb hearings need to move way up in the off-season. All other FA compensation is eliminated.

    Outside of actually having a good team this is truely the most entertaining outcome you can hope for. Lose spectacularly.
