  1. I believe that former bears staffer and occasional XFL exec Greg Gabriel said something about suspecting the bears didn’t want Ballard since he was a part of the organization and knows what needs to be fixed? Massive organizational shifts the Bears weren't comfortable with (but were likely necessary). There's been lots of vagueness to it all and Pace has also made lots of big organizational changes himself. So I've always treated that Ballard thing with some skepticism.
  2. Unless Carr materializes its probably: Ryan Fitzpatrick Jacoby Brisset Tyrod Taylor Marcus Mariota(?) Jameis Winston Joe Flacco Any others? Obviously discounting any of the other big-ish names via trade. These are all FA or could be cut.
  3. Fitzpatrick is the worst talent choice available? It seems like they already have a good tank candidate in Foles, though starting Coward again would really put the finishing touch on a tank job. I meant of guys who wouldn't be a joke of a starter. Like, Andy Dalton is out there, but nobody could really see him as a guy who pushes this Bears team to the playoffs. You could at least sell the argument of Fitzpatrick as a guy who makes plays and has experience. I don't think they could even possibly sell Foles as the starter going into '21 without being eviscerated in the media. Maybe you can get by with Foles without being eviscerated if you draft a guy. If it's like Foles and Bray, omg they would rightfully be destroyed. Since they seem intent on competing I'd say go vet FA like Fitz and draft a guy. Just start throwing options out there hoping one catches lighting in a bottle.

  5. I suppose only if they want to be really ruthless with him. Like if they win despite his play, you ideally want to bench him before he hits the 70% mark and save the first. Obviously if they're just flat out sucky its easy to bench him anyways and save yourself the risk of losing a high first. Like would they still try to bring Brisset back as a veteran contingency to Wentz? He's a guy I wouldn't mind if the Bears up having to just get the best vet backup they can to come compete with Foles.
  6. Its about what I would have expected if you asked me a month or so ago what a Wentz value would be. Probably best for the Bears not to be the one to do it, but fairly reasonable.
  7. Let's hope it's some early 90s video game thing where the dumb fake name is actually the awesome star player secretly.
  8. When I first saw him I legit thought he looked like the kid they'd cast as the hot shot punk spoiled QB in a Friday Night Lights reboot. Turns out he's Bo Callahan. So I was close.
  9. This is a nifty article on him from a month ago brings up some interesting points. It sounds like he's the reserved type who spends a lot of time studying film and isn't particularly outspoken. It also sounds like BYU was desperate for a QB and didn't bother recruiting him until they were pretty much forced to do so, which tells me they knew he was really talented, but they had concerns about how he'd fit with BYU overall. Frankly, I don't think character issues in QBs should be much of a concern. There are and have been numerous successful QBs who are complete weirdos, jackoffs, sexual predators, bigots, and outright idiots. If this causes Wilson to drop into the Bears' lap, awesome, but it's wholly unjustified unless Wilson is doing something like shooting heroin into his forehead during interviews. I just want Pace to do what's best for the team.
  10. But how many teammates showed up to his birthday party?
  11. Recent reports are neither side has any interest.
  12. I don't think I want to do 2 seconds either, honestly.
  13. Who is Pettine knocking boots with in this scenario? VIrginia? I think Nagy. Its a dome-head kink thing.
  14. This past year was also just not that special either. Sure there's some value to being able to carry a heavy workload with average efficiency like he did. And he's not a one trick pony, he can do a little bit of everything. But... yea I don't see him as a second contract guy. So he has two useful years left IMO. You could wait til 2022 draft, but I'd keep an eye out for the next JAG.
  15. Looks like it was deleted and he replied: I know running backs dont matter and horsefeathers, but I do like DM as our RB He's JAG. Definitely should be thinking about drafting his eventual replacement(s)
  16. Some Twitter rumors. One of the beat guys also posted that Chicago is Lonzos preferred landing spot if he gets dealt.
  17. I don't think they're going to tank. Maybe they'd still love Young for a pick if they can, but Id bet on Karnisovas also looking to actively fix roster issues. Now maybe he fails at that and accidentally ranks, but I don't see an all out tank scenario. Seems like there's some smoke with Lonzo. If you buy into lack a PG as being one of the Bulls biggest weakness, that might be enough to turn the tide and go the other direction.
  18. Could it be Pace has learned something and knows its on the Eagles? That is, wait it out explore other options, just too fantastic to consider - the Bears being smart. I said earlier in this thread, but for whatever bad moves Pace has made, many fans always acted like some huge draft haul was inevitable, when he hasn't really parted with tons of "high level" assets. And when he did it was for an indisputably awesome player, in Mack. Let's hope he can calibrate this market.
  19. Has a bit of a fumbling problem though. 18 fumbles on 20 starts. Yikes. Didn't look at that, just passing stats. Fumbles are a worse issue than INTs to me, simply because fumbles from QBs typically go backwards in field position. Yep. His QBr is quite low for his passing stats and I presume this has a lot to do with it.
  20. Minshew is low-key.....not terrible. He completed over 66% of his passes this year. He played at a 4000 yard, 30 TD pace this year. And he quietly doesn't make many mistakes. His INT rate is only 1.4%, which is the same INT rate as the all-time leader in NFL history, Aaron Rodgers. Obviously, he's very young in his career, but he's probably not a guy that's going to all of a sudden be careless with the ball. Even if he never puts up those impressive numbers over a full 16-game season, he only has a 900K and then 1M cap hit over the next 2 years. Not a guy that's going to save Pace and Nagy's jobs, so I don't think he's a realistic option, but if the Bears wanted a bridge QB, with at least some potential, he's one of the better options. Has a bit of a fumbling problem though. 18 fumbles on 20 starts.
  21. Contract the NBA.
  22. The key is if it only costs you money that's mostly a fake resource that isnt too bad to compensate for elsewhere.
