But you've got a bad leak from that group too. That's just not a great organizarional sign IMO. If the leak is true in entirety, that's a face-palm decision IMO. The only outcome that makes me feel somewhat better is if the leak is primarily false. Let's say that "he's a dead amn walking" comment was miscommunicated or something along those lines. But I think they may be best suited to put out some response now, especially after the Biggs report. the McCaskey brothers have always been accused of being spineless going back to Ditka. True or not, its what they do I can get the desire to be above the rumor mill chatter to a large extent, but given everything I think it's an awful decision to let your coach and players away in the wind with this all. There's like 3 people tops who needed to know if the firing was predetermined. If it leaked without their consent it's bad no matter what. If it leaked how they wanted it to, oh my god lawl.

But if this IS his last game, is the response really lacking? At this stage, I'd probably at least issue a like 2 sentence statement denying the report. But also, ooof, if they pre-determined the firing and only held on cuz of the short week. And then someone let it leak and didn't even let it get leaked in a good way.

Trade deadline is passed. Hicks and ARob are FA. Might net comp picks, but no trades there. I think Mack could get a second rounder maybe? Maybe a third too? If Quinn ends up at 15+ sacks maybe he could net a 3rd. Anyone else of trade value is young guys. Unless you wanna shop Roquan if an extension seems unlikely, who else?

If they are keeping him they probably do need to address it at some point, but I wouldn't put it past them to hold on, whether they planned to or not.

While there may be no good way to be fired, there's definitely a bad way. Maybe the leak is fake enough that it was out of their control, but their org response to it is obviously lacking.

Prediction. The plan was to fire him, but there's too much egg on face now. They'll wait until either mathematical elimination or Week 16 (when they can start interviewing candidates) as either of those deadlines would be justifiable and they can deny the report. Really wondering where Pace fits in this. Undecided? Staying? Gone? I'm guessing staying, but we'll see.

I don't know much about the guy since he's such a creapy weirdo recluse. But it could work. Isn't that how the White Sox treated Ken Williams? Maybe he can take on more of a go between to ownership and mouthpiece at league meetings, without driving personnel decisions. But I have my doubts. I would take that situation in a heartbeat if it was offered though. I guess its a classic Reinsdorf move since that's somewhat the GarPax setup. So don't think I like it still.

Yeah, the more I think about this, the more I hate it. He's a personnel and staffing decision guy. That's all the experience he has (besides scouting, which would be a big demotion). If not involved in personnel decisions, he has no other expertise to really add to the organization. I thought maybe he could be heavily involved in the Arlington Heights stuff, but he's only slightly more qualified to oversee that than I am. The biggest problem I have with it is his philosophies are terrible, and if anything he would instill those upon the next guy in some way shape or form. He treats draft picks like peanut shells. His solution to fixing a problem is drafting/signing/acquiring as many guys at the same position as possible to "guarantee" the hole gets filled. He is very bad at asset management, and if he's some sort of prez, the one thing he will direct is the overall philosophy of the front office. So you are basically suggesting a situation where he is still basically in charge. Some of the stuff I'm now seeing suggested is he could have a psuedo demotion and still stick around. Which sound incredibly toxic for any new GM to work in.

I never heard this. i saw it on twitter and i totally forgot the circumstances around lovie's firing when i repeated it so take it with an enormous grain of salt edit - fwiw in more anecdotal stuff, just heard a reporter on the score mention that john fox and the team knew it was john fox's final game when he got fired in carolina I can kind of see the end of the season heads up for a long time coach who's really well respected in his locker room. Fox and Lovie had both coached their teams to Super Bowls and been there a long time. This is not that situation. At all.

Just FYI, the article headline buries the lede for anyone who didn't click through. So Nagy already has been fired and hes gonna coach why? Just cuz it's a short week? That's not a good enough reason.

Playing around with the odds generators again, and Ben Baldwin's model is quite a bit more bullish on the Ravens wins odds at -5 and -6 compared to the pro football reference model. They're both roughly in agreement on the -4 win probability model. But that difference for 5 and 6 is enough to flip it where pfr model would very slightly favor going for 1. HOWEVER, Ben's model requires inputs specific team/year, so I assume that means it uses in season Dvoa or similar metric to create a relative spread between the teams. Pro football references model just asks for a simple Vegas spread. When you put back the pre-Lamar illness spread @ - 6, its net odds agree more closely with Ben's model and favors going for 2. The question remains, does Nagy even prepare for anything like this?
