Thank you. I'm also detecting hints of jealousy on NSBB that we have nothing close to the insider info OH has enjoyed in the past. People naturally don't want to believe another board has (or had) such connections. That's life. hahahahahahahahahahahaha! You don't get it all! They don't have any connections. If those dudes posted that stuff here but from the Cubs end they would have been banned. Um, yea. That's pretty far from reality. -
This thread must hold a record for total number of times "FWIW" or "for what it's worth" is typed. I know I've used it several times, myself.

Last one was July 4, 2004 at Wrigley. Derrek Lee homered early and that was it for the entire game, until LaTroy gave up the same to Carlos Lee in the 9th (typical 2004 game, am I right?). The Cubs won when Damaso Marte walked Walker with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th. That's right. The walk-off walk by Walkah. That was awesome.

I think the O's in general are just a mess. It's not just the OH guys that are having trouble figuring out what the hell is going on. Look at how real media sources have been all over the place with the Bedard/Jones deal.

A .750 ops split is not good. It's not, and I'm not at all advocating acquiring Payton unless it means we give up far less for Roberts, but I think his point was that it pretty much blows out of the water whatever you're likely to get from Pie against LHP.

10:56am apparently: I believe Peace (I believe his source is or has ties to Bedard's agent) from OH reported sometime last night that Bedard would be on his way to Seattle this morning. I guess we'll see.

I'm with UMFan and raw. I'd reluctantly do it at this point with the same rationale as UM. We're giving up more quantity, but at least we'd keep Pie, I guess. Hopefully, Hendry's other move up his sleeve is a good one.

That is one of the silliest trade rumors I've ever read. I hope it is not true. If so, I hope Hendry has the number to the rape hotline. Not rumors. They're just examples of delusional O's fans. I made the same mistake.

Truth be told, trading a reliever with such high value (probably his peak right now) would probably be a smart move. For Roberts, however, not so much.

If Roberts is Hendry's idea of a big move I'm not sure I'd be willing to devote 160+ pages to the other big move. I think you underestimate Roberts value. I was on the fence with this deal but I am now convinced that, if he lives up to his projected production, he could be the most valuable member of the team. I think a lot of people are doing that. Especially when you compound it with the added value of DeRosa over Fontenot (or whoever would wind up as the primary backup)... It's totally understandable as to why that is, too. There are bigger needs on the team.

:rotfl: If you go by WARP (which I know has some flaws and some people here don't like it), it's actually not THAT crazy... Last 3 years Tex has averaged a 6.7 WARP. Roberts, over the same span, has averaged a 6.9 WARP. Neither missed a significant amount of playing time in that span (had to mention, since WARP is a counting stat, not a rate)... I'm not at all trying to suggest that Roberts > Tex or is really even close to him, but the statement isn't all that crazy by some metrics.

Does anyone else who lurks OH get a kick out of that girl who posts crying smileys and stuff like "OMG PLEASE BE WRONG NO!!!!" every time something is reported about Roberts? Cracks me up. I think her name is cindylovesbrady or something like that.
