  1. Too bad the Cubs are only 3 deep in the rotation. After that, I wouldn't call a bunch of crap "depth." Luckily, most teams have a bunch of crap at the bottom of their rotations, too. Oh, and to answer your question in a manner relevant to this year, I'd certainly take Gallagher in our rotation over Dempster and Lieber. Maybe not Marquis.
  2. I'm guessing that got auto-drafted for him since he left after 20 rounds.
  3. FWIW, I've been trying to draft younger guys. I know I'm going to have to make exceptions at times, but yea. Seeing how the draft is going, I might be able to get some of the other younger guys I want later on. This is my first fantasy draft in about 10 years, so if I screw it up, oh well.
  4. 49. Scott Kazmir 50. Francisco Liriano 51. John Smoltz 52. John Lackey 53. Chris Young (the outfielder) 54. Curtis Granderson 55. Brian McCann 56. Ian Kinsler 57. Magglio Ordonez
  5. I'd rather Dempster get hurt. At least you'll get a decent first half out of Marquis. Hopefully, Dempster will get pounded so hard in ST that he won't even have to get hurt. That would be the best for all parties.
  6. Just passing it on. Dempster Zambrano Marquis Just heard on WSCR.
  7. good news. =D> Ya, that won't last long, assuming Theriot doesn't pull another monster month out of his butt.
  8. DAMN YOU ROB
  9. What is an 11 year old doing at that party, anyway? Weird.
  10. That's not that incredibly unlikely. It also wouldn't mean that he (Fuld) should get the job if that's the case. I couldn't care less if Fuld has a .900 OPS in spring and Pie has a .700 OPS.
  11. Derwood, have you talked to IMB? Is he going to make a pick through you?
  12. Would've been nice to have had Boston or the Yankees coming into town this year. What a crappy interleague schedule.
  13. Don't X out, just keep pounding on that submit button until it works. Yea, I've been doing that. Not much to choose from on the schedule though.
  14. I got through... could've gotten 4 to that game. Then it crapped out on the image verification. Then it reloaded and I could only get singles. Then high transaction volume kept me from even getting that. Only singles for bleachers? Seriously?
  15. Anyone else getting shafted by high transaction volume? I've gotten through a few times only to not be able to order anything. Did get opening day, though. And my buddy got us Cubs/Sox.
  16. Millar can't either. That's part of the funny.
  17. why would Fukodome feel obligated to do any of those things? does Derek Jeter drop a lot of sac bunts for the Yankees? A Japanese analyst the other day said that if he's hitting second, Fukudome might feel obligated to do things like that because in Japan, all #2 hitters are expected to do that stuff. As for whether Fukudome, himself, would actually feel like that... I doubt it, but who knows?
  18. Actually, I'd be completely in favor of letting the mediocre Dempster get the last 3 outs (assuming he's not as sucky as he was in 07 and is more along the lines of 05-06) and letting our good relievers handle the actual important spots in the game. But that's just me. Closers are overrated (and stuff).
  19. He's good at predicting sliders, low and away.
  20. If we're having Soriano out of position (and staying reasonably realistic within the concept of "dream"), I think I'd rather go with .. 2B Roberts 1B Lee RF Fukudome 3B Ramirez CF Soriano SS Greene C Soto LF Murton Might be better defensively than Lofton(/Fuld/Willits) in CF and Soriano at 2B, too.
  21. Yea, I don't understand why Greene is hitting ahead of Lee. Not that batting order matters much, anyway, but it's just odd.
  22. Freakin calves are still huge.
  23. What did he do to get banned this time? As far as I can tell... viewtopic.php?f=4&t=46826 He was poking fun at the DeuceBaseman thing.
  24. Oh please. If it were up to you players would be the absolute most bland boring creatures on the face of the planet. They're human beings for God's sake and they're having fun. As for dempster being a crappy pitcher - yeah, as a starter. As a closer he blew THREE, yeah, THREE saves last year. What a piece of garbage. Lighten up, man. He's having fun. Eh, he is a pretty crappy pitcher, regardless of his luck in save situations last year. That said, that's still not a reason to dislike the guy personally. At least, not to me. We all know he sucks. It's not like his jokes make him suck more. It's all in good fun.
  25. Ya, all these jokes are probably keeping Dempster from becoming a better pitcher.
