  1. I agree. Purely for selfish/emotional reasons I'd like to see Woody get the role.
  2. He did say that Howry would be his closer if Dempster isn't. He also, though, later on, listed the candidates for the last two rotation spots and mentioned Marquis, Lieber, and Marshall. Freudian slip? Maybe. But he doesn't seem nearly as enthused about Dempster possibly starting as Dempster, himself, does.
  3. Yea. I can live with Dempster as closer. I can live with him as a mop-up guy, too. I can live with him off this team. Him being in the rotation would really suck and I'm still expecting that not to happen (or in denial, either way). Hopefully, if it happens, it'll be abandoned just as quickly as it was in 05.
  4. Theriot is slated to hit #2 right now, anyway. Not sure what you're saying in the rest of it. Who bats 3rd in your joke scenario?
  5. Don't have a link. Lou just said it on Instant Replay w/Dan Roan. He's concerned about Wood's ability to handle the work load. As we know, though, Lou isn't afraid to change things up, so we'll see. He also said, as we've already heard, that he's looking for a 3rd and 5th starter (to break up Lilly and Hill). Said he likes Fukudome's "actions" in the field and at the plate. Has a more traditional "American" swing than other Japanese players. They hit some fly balls to him today, and he looked good. Supposedly showcased his arm a little, too.
  6. Someone asked if the two in question might be Colvin and Veal and he replied For the love of Cubs fan sanity, PLEASE Hendry back the heck away. There is no way Brian Roberts is worth more then two solid young players, much less 4 players. I'm guessing from reports that one of the two is Ceda. If you were to go by what Gammons reported, they'd be Pie and Ceda. That would fall right in line.
  7. FWIW... bigbird was asked if he thinks Roberts will get traded. This was his response. He was then asked if the two were Colvin and Veal, and he said, "No."

I would rather have the point guard who wins at a higher clip. You can have your stats. Ron Harper >>>>>> Deron Williams Case closed. I am talking over a career, how many games did Ron's clippers teams win again? LOL... You're reaching. So if Harper had never played for the Clippers, my "argument" would be valid? Did he win at Miami of Ohio? Did he really win at a high clip with the Cavs? He was on two great teams. Point to me Deron Williams' Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Oh and Harper could be better than Williams anyways. Harper could play before he got hurt. Then he did a great job of reinventing himself. You were the one who said you'd take the guy with the higher winning percentage. I just decided to be a smart ass.

Plus Harper probably played the two for the Cavs and Clippers, though I'm too young to remember and don't know of any way to look it up.

  12. Up and down. On one hand, they got the Cubs record exactly right last year, and Milwaukee was only off by 1 game. At the same time, they predicted the Cubs would have a great offense but bad pitching last year, and they predicted Milwaukee would have very good pitching but a bad offense. So their records were right, but the way they got to them was completely wrong. They were also dead on on the White Sox, which nobody else saw coming, if I remember right.
  13. Wait, so you continously state an opinion, then when someone asks you to back it up, you "don't have time"? Forgive us for not taking you seriously. We may disagree on the whole Soriano lineup position impacting his numbers thing, but that post hit the nail on the head. He has never once responded to the arguments against his opinion (which he has stated 10,000 times) except to say that Steve Stone and Cubs management agrees with him.
  14. People aren't against the trade, for the most part. They're against giving up too much for Roberts.
  15. FWIW, I'm not even sure when to start taking pitchers.
  16. 2nd Round 13. Grady Sizemore 14. Prince Fielder 15. Jake Peavy 16. Troy Tulowitzki

  19. Looks like you edited.. Well, Z is 38. 49, I believe, is Marmol. Not sure who 78 is.
  20. Can anybody identify who the guys 39, 48, and 73 behind Z are? I'm guessing perhaps one is Ceda, 39? Anybody know which? Am I nuts? I do not see any of those numbers in that picture.
  21. Yeah, he's gotta end up getting somewhere around $20M per year. There is NO WAY CC is going to get $20 mill, unless it's the Yanks. And IDK if the new Yanks are going to break the bank on a lefty who isn't even in Johan Santana's class. If Johan can't break the $20 mill barrier, then I doubt CC (who has YET to win a Cy Young) gets more then say $15-17 mill per. He won it last year. IDK that. I wasn't paying attention. But still, he's not in Johan Santana class. Nobody even mentioned Santana, really, except for you, when you incorrectly stated that he didn't break the $20M barrier.
  22. Rick Morrissey's piece on it today.. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080214-morrissey-ramirez-[expletive]-fighting,1,6916998.column
  23. Where is the part that makes Paul Sullivan an idiot? Or were you just speaking in general?
