Yea, not like he has accounted for nearly half of the Cubs runs today. Nevermind that. He made a wild throw fielding a ball that most MLB SS's wouldn't even get to. Release him.
He better. Well he DID crush a double with the bases loaded. I'd just hope he can hit enough the rest of the game to redeem himself for that error in Lou's eyes.
I think he's just saying that the overall result on defense would've been the same. And there's probably a better chance of Cedeno making that throw properly than of Theriot gloving that ball, FWIW.
Compared to who? Theriot doesn't get to that ball and two runs score either way. I didn't say that Theriot would have gotten to that ball, but if he did, I doubt it ends up in the stands. But he wouldn't have, so it's moot.
My crush on Nomar was pretty instant too, but that was based on prior reputation. As far as going from zero to crush, I'd say fuku is the quickest. You're right. Nomar too. That was a massive oversight by me.
Yea, Lou was saying that his fastball wasn't "there" after his start last week. I'm a little worried, but he should hopefully be able to pick up that 2-3 mph eventually.
Okay, I'm converted. I was one of those in the camp of "Theriot sucks - but he's the best we got." Screw it and just play Cedeno. I'm watching on MLB gameday - was it a well placed gapper or a shot over the CF's head? Gameday's dot - which usually shows where it falls - was at the wall. From the way Pat called it, it sounded like it was a shot over the CF's head.
