  1. I know last year was a down year for Rizzo and all (and Schwarber is being helped by, gasp, defense) but Schwarber actually had a higher fWAR in 20 fewer games last year.
  2. like you must think schwarber is really really bad against lefties if you think putting 26 year old AAAA outfielder guy in the lineup over him is a good idea
  3. who the horsefeathers cares about spring? Moreover, whenever has a spring training wiz, such Zagunis, carried that success over to the regular season? that's basically what i said
  4. i'm concurrently both annoyed that schwarber isn't in the lineup and at the same time not giving that many fucks about what the lineup is in a given day if this were like dusty putting like rey ordonez and macias at the top of a lineup, that'd be one thing. otherwise, don't really care. i'm horsefeathering excited.
  5. I watch every game on delay in my ongoing attempt to never, ever watch commercials again. I'd rather watch commercials than be behind and not know what's going on right horsefeathering now. It's why sports TV contracts are so valuable.
  6. I'm with UM on this. 3:05 starts are for the birds (except for Friday home games, damn you, Maddon). Also, in the early 2000s, I could do the DVR thing. It's way too hard to avoid the score nowadays.
  7. Rewarding and paying your own good players for their great performance in years they were being underpaid is a good and cool thing to do on principle and teams should do more of it. Especially when it's their first big payday. Owners need to stop artificially holding down salaries and this type of thing needs to happen more often to more players (even pitchers). It's not gonna kill our quest for a $/WAR trophy.
  8. This is awesome. Also, gato is gonna be upset [tweet] [/tweet]
  9. at least it's not basketball feet
  10. i get lamenting our shitty owners and boring ass offseason completely. what i don't get is all the pining for/props to even shittier organizations who spend even less (and cry poor much more loudly) and are just happening to do things right now.
  11. $10M AAV at his age, and after the year he just had? Wow... [tweet] [/tweet]
  12. i still remember staying up all night on a school night to watch the horsefeathering 2000 cubs play in japan (either i was too excited or i didn't trust myself to wake up at 4 am or whatever) on two straight nights i think the horsefeathering agbayani game ended while i was in homeroom and was listening on the radio
  13. I feel like this has happened before, like within the last 5 or 6 years. It's more like a week before, right? yesterday was the 20th and 12 days before the Cubs first game. The Cubs open a week from today
  14. I was very confused by the whole thing. None of the apps made note of it being a regular season game, its just next to all the spring training games. I get the reasoning and know this isn't that unique, but 2 weeks before everybody else starts is new, no? I feel like this has happened before, like within the last 5 or 6 years. It's more like a week before, right?
  15. this seems like a pointless risk by the white sox but it's automatic generational wealth for eloy no matter what he ends up like, so that's awesome for him
  16. said about even pennier pinchinger direct competition the mid-small market franchises claiming their billionaire owners can't afford a damn thing are arguably worse
  17. [tweet] [/tweet] What’s he gonna say? “The Cubs and Tom Ricketts are trash and I’d rather light myself on fire than play for this manipulative, lying, morally bankrupt ownership, and by extension, organization” "i'm not going to talk about an extension"
  18. With English that good, I'm shocked he ever uses a translator. I spoke Spanish before I spoke English and I still speak it exclusively with my mother and that generation of my family...Despite being fluent, I'm still incredibly self conscious when I speak it to other native speakers, so I totally get why he'd want an interpreter in a professional and public setting where the whole world is going to be judging whatever he says. That said, props to him for going without one. He speaks much better than I would've guessed. I wonder if he was taught in school growing up.
  19. he was a decent pitcher for the dodgers in the mid 90s but he kinda sucked by the time the cubs got him...and yeah, blisters. Ah, yes, that rings a bell now. I think I've voided all but Sammy, Kerry, and Brant Brown's dropped fly ball from that era of the Cubs out of my brain. Or I drank too much in college. [tweet] [/tweet]
