  1. How long do we control Harden? We have a club option for next year.
  2. Well that'll probably send Harden's ERA back over 2 for the season...
  3. Go to the Cubs page and look at the Cubs league ranks in the different categories. Last I checked, first in all the offensive categories that matter (and a couple that don't matter, too).
  4. Nobody tried to draw overall conclusions from it that I saw. His last 28 days are .237/.326/368. He's OPSing .694 in that time period. He has been bad RECENTLY. Not to mention, he looks completely clueless out there on some of his at bats. Swinging at ball way out of the zone and doing a little pirouette. For the contact he signed, he's been awful. He's an average outfielder, but he's making 12 mil/year. Yes, I know that's Hendry's fault, not Kosukue's but the reality is that the contract somewhat dictates expectations. I don't care about what he "looks" like. I don't care about what anyone looks like. I care about what they produce. People don't like strikeouts because they "look" bad, when the reality is they're no worse than any other out. Yes, Kosuke has had his slumps, but overall he has been fairly productive, and if you didn't expect an adjustment period for a player that is coming to a substantially more difficult league, I don't know what to tell you. Like I said, we've seen the same thing before with other Japanese players making the leap.
  5. Since I don't believe in nor give a crap about jinxes or any other superstitious crap, I'll go ahead and say it... [-( Harden is like our second chance at having a healthy Mark Prior... In fact, he's even younger. Hopefully, we'll get a little luckier on this one.
  6. Actually, even Ichiro wasn't THAT much better (he was better, don't me wrong, but it wasn't like night and day)... he just got a lot of hype because he hit .350... EDIT - I should really restate that... He was a lot better, but most people would look at it and think that Ichiro put up superstar type numbers and Fuku is crap... Just saying I was surprised that Ichiro's rookie year wasn't as good as I thought when I looked at the stats.
  7. Christ... Fukudome has not been terrible. He's almost OPSing .800, he's got a .380 OBP, and go ahead and look at other Japanese players in their first seasons (save Ichiro)... Matsui put up .287/.353/.435 his first year with the Yankees... It's his first season in the US, give him a break.
  8. I couldn't believe it when I walked into Sports Authority and saw Reed Johnson shirtzees...
  9. Hughes made it sound like he *just* missed a HR.. did he?
  10. hahahhaha Harden can't get a sac bunt down to save his life in his first few starts, and legs out a bunt single all of a sudden.
  11. LOL Blanco's sudden ability to hit this year
  12. Plenty of people called out DeRosa... Even me, uncharacteristically
  13. So I turn the game on late, somehow within 18 minutes, the Astros have been retired and the Cubs have scored runs? WTF?
  14. Yea, Grace is terrible.
  15. After that hilarious display, I can be OK with a loss now.
  16. Are you referring to Thom Brennaman?
  17. Because 5 innings is an official game, and if they dont get it in tonight, its over. Plus you dont want them going too late tonight anyway with a day game tommorow. Usually they won't suspend a game unless it's tied, IIRC. If it were tied, they'd probably finish it up tomorrow before the next game.
  18. Of course they make it through freaking 5.... :banghead:
