  1. In other words, broadly speaking, I typically want nothing to do with the super-low strikeout hitters because they most likely aren't doing much working of the count.
  2. IMO, most good hitters are going to K a good amount of the time because they are in so many deep counts. It's probably really rare, and more of an anomaly than a virtue of any sort, for a very good (productive) hitter to have a very low strikeout rate.
  3. So what will tickets go for in the VWR? Face value
  4. FWIW, for as bad as a lot of people here think DLee has been this year, Howard has been worse. Granted, Howard is younger and has been significantly better over his career, but I just thought it was an odd time to pick that name out.
  5. If you are referring to my post, I didn't say they would sweep I said they "should absolutely sweep". They shouldn't. It doesn't work that way. That's like saying the worst team in baseball should lose every game. Or that the best team should win every game.
  6. This is true especially against, and I must stress this again because this is important, a pitcher we haven't seen Don't get excited Cubbie fans, we aren't scoring many runs lol this isn't what I was saying, either
  7. I really wish a lot of fans would stop acting like great team vs. terrible team = absolute overwhelming odds of victory. It doesn't. It's baseball. You could have the 98 Yankees face the 03 Tigers and the Tigers would have a decent chance of winning.
  8. http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=226945 Another good piece on Harden.
  9. On Harden's awesomeness... http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=227010 I love that something written in a mainstream publication calls those numbers what they are, instead of pointlessly referencing his W-L record
  10. Guys, we really should be rooting for the Cardinals at this point. They're not passing us, but they *might* pass the Brewers.
  11. That one guy needs to stop with the "that's how we roll" thing.
  12. Were we supposed to be better than the Chinese team even with the Hamms?
  13. :?: The announcer just said the US could start celebrating and that what the Germans came up with there was good but not the great that they needed... i was talking about the chinese. ah, my bad... I had tipped my cap to them like 20 minutes ago...
  14. lolllll marmol seemed to like the interviewer
  15. :?: The announcer just said the US could start celebrating and that what the Germans came up with there was good but not the great that they needed...
  16. loooooool i *love* when hccf decides to make an appearance
  17. Sorry... most golds Not sure where he ranks in most medals.
  18. Is that US history or modern Olympic history? Tied for most all time
  19. I guess, as a swimmer, he has more opportunities than other types of athletes... *shrug*
  20. Sooo... if Phelps already is tied for the most medals in history, still has 5 (?) events to potentially medal in this year, and, at 23, (I don't know much about swimming and career longevity/age), I'm guessing he has at least another olympics or two in his future, does he go down as by far the best Olympian ever?? Again, I don't really know much about these sports, but to have tied the all time record at age 23 while still having plenty of events left to go this year is pretty sick.
  21. This is reminding me of the 96 women's gymnastics showing...
  22. Tiger Woods is closer to being the Michael Jordan of this generation... Phelps is only relevant every four years.
  23. I just meant that it's crazy how they wind up breaking the world record at this stage...when they probably come close to that every time they practice or perform that same race. It seems like a lot of them manage to have the best days of their lives on the biggest stage.
  24. Do you really want to know? I'm not that cynical.
