  1. Either it's an automatic win, or it's not, right?
  2. I don't see what other start dexter could be calling anything less than very good, though. I guess the first one, vs. Colorado, could be considered mediocre.
  3. You could say it was mediocre based on the ERs, but he was pretty much walking a tight rope all game... lots of baserunners
  4. and he called me ridiculous. i've never been an optimist, but at least i'm not a meatball. I called you ridiculous for acting as though the Cubs are just kidding themselves and are just waiting to be overtaken by the godly Brewers. Why am I a meatball? And did I say C.C. hasn't been dominant? Nope, I sure didn't. You called him automatic (which was clearly innaccurate) and I pointed out that he's had the advantage of facing some terrible offenses lately. In his 3 starts against good offenses (which, again, is was what I was talking about) he has been good in one and very shaky in the other two. Not automatic. first, we haven't had a 9-inning shutout all season from a starter. second, see above. Do they give extra points for those?
  5. His start against the Cubs was pretty bad, any way you look at the numbers...
  6. Well, since the Cubs aren't going to win the division, gotta keep an eye out on the Wild Card race. you're a little late on that one. he took a different approach, though...
  7. jeez just let him have CC, dude has been dominant
  8. We don't want the Cubs to win the division and play Arizona. We're winning the wild card and will be facing Philly, anyway. Sulley's got me convinced.
  9. Nah, I don't blame you. I don't really fear choking till the playoffs though...but that's got more to do with how easily it can happen within a couple games...
  10. I think before Saturday's game they said we were 25 over with Soriano leading off and 1 under when he is not, which given that we split the 2 games since would still hold up. 46-21 with him 25-26 without Wow... not exactly a tiny sample size either...
  11. Good start
  12. Inning over
  13. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know our record with and without Soriano? I remember that it was just about .500, if not exactly that, without...
  14. Does the level of competition not count? they're winning every game against inferior competition. that's what playoff teams do. i still think that they overtake us, and i don't think that's so crazy to believe. And you still have provided no substance to your claims. Why are they a better team than the Cubs? The Cubs have a better rotation, a better offense, a better bullpen, better defense, and more depth. We're better them in every facet of the game. It's just a defense mechanism. Lots of Cubs fans have it... expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't happen. Kind of a crappy way to enjoy being a fan, though, IMO.
  15. Even in the last ten games, while the Brewers have been absolutely on fire, they've only been a game better.
  16. Does the level of competition not count? they're winning every game against inferior competition. that's what playoff teams do. i still think that they overtake us, and i don't think that's so crazy to believe. Not really, but yea, they're doing well. Not as well as we have, though...without our most productive offensive player for, what, 2 months?
  17. Not to mention the fact that we finally have Soriano back, and we've been MUCH better with him than without him.
  18. Whoops, you guys were on that one before I had the chance...
  19. Hell, as far as I can tell, Sheets has had one good start lately...his last one, against Washington...
  20. sheets and sabathia were obviously automatic victories against the Cubs...
  21. maybe I'm misinterpreting you, but that's what that rule is all about I think he's saying that if it happens on any count, the batter should be out. In other words, it shouldn't be a strike, it should be an out.
  22. We've been better than them by a greater margin than the standings would suggest.
  23. we better keep winning every single game, then. and this is why I'm saying your posts read like sarcasm. You keep talking like the Brewers can't and never will lose a game again.
  24. dude, why is it so hard to believe that the brewers will win the division? it's august and they're going to be 3 games out. it's not like i'm predicting that the pirates are going to win the division. i don't get why that's so unbelievable. Because the Cubs are clearly the better team and it makes no sense for someone to be sure that the worse team that's 3 games behind is going to prevail? Sure, it can happen, but it would definitely be an upset.
  25. all of that and still no one can beat them. Who was the team that whipped their ass in a 4 game beatdown again? I think it was something like 31-11 in the 4 game set. The team that beat them escapes me. we're number one! we're number one! Didn't think you knew the answer but yes, the Cubs are number one. Check the division standings. Or see the best run differential in baseball if you want to see just how #1 they are... :-"
