  1. Outstanding logic  Comparing a pitcher to a position player. LOL. 48-15 with him, 28-33 without him. Nuff said. Yup. And he really sets the tone for the offense in those games. Like I said, outstanding logic. Who cares what he does to help the team, they are obviously 48-15 with him and a horrible 28-33 without him. Are you trying to tell me that there is more to a player's value than W/L record in games they appear in? I put his personal stats up as well. Of course, you choose to ignore them, so carry on with Marmol for MVP!! Wooo hooo! No I saw them but didn't feel they added to your argument. His projected 162 game HRs and RBIs? His relative place among leadoff hitters? And your RPG argument didn't really prove anything, since you chose to ignore several times my points about the fact that there were other factors at play besides Soriano being out. Hmmm, Piniella's and DeRo's comments weren't good enough for you either? I can find all kinds of quotes by major leaguers talking up crappy players (like Theriot talking about Neifi's greatness). Sorinao's a crappy player?? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! once again, no, that's not what he said at all and you missed the point completely
  2. Neifi saved us in 06.... Ask Dusty.
  3. i bet if you asked a player and manager from every team, they'd offer support for soriano as MVP too.
  4. Much shorter then that weak retort that you came up with. OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! sikk, sikk burn
  5. Zambrano should win MVP. Could you imagine his offensive numbers projected out for a full season? WOW
  6. They are beyond ridiculous. That said, take the numbers away and look at the record of the team. The Cubs are something like 26-28 this year when he was injured. They are a crazy 50-20 when he is in the lineup leading off. Len and Bob, if you are lurking, start the train rolling for Sori tonight on the air. Tell me exactly what you're trying to prove with this little tidbit, then.
  7. EVEN IF the discrepancies in the Cubs records with/without Soriano were SOLELY do to his presence/absence (which is completely and utterly absurd to suggest, might I add), do you not realize that that alone wouldn't be enough to make him the most valuable player? why, there's no telling what the Cardinals would do without Pujols, or the Brewers without Braun, or the Phillies without Utley, or the Astros without Berkman. I could go on.....
  8. Umm, no. If you think it's a terrible one, you really haven't a very high baseball IQ. looooooooooooooool you're right... the Cubs are a .500 team without Soriano maybe if nobody plays LF and there's an automatic out in his lineup spot in his absence ....amirite?
  9. did it take you an extra minute to think that one up?
  10. and i'm not being toungue and cheak.
  11. just admit that your argument for soriano being MVP is a terrible one and be done with it.
  12. Outstanding logic  Comparing a pitcher to a position player. LOL. it's hilarious watching everything blow right over your head
  13. Yeah, lou is a idiot and a soriano is selfish hack. You're misinterpreting what he wrote.
  14. Wow.. I can't believe it's been a year already

  16. Okay, but that doesn't mean he's a better hitter. I agree that a HR is worth more to a team than a single, but that doesn't mean that a guy who hits 2 450-foot HRs a week is a better hitter than a guy who gets 8 hits in that same week. We're not talking about value to the team or runs produced, we're talking about being a great hitter. Baseball-Reference.com list of players most similar to Dunn as: Pat Burrell, Rob Deer, Richard Hidalgo, Henry Rodriguez, Gus Zernial, Bob Horner, Glenallen Hill, Wally Post, Pete Incaviglia, and J.D. Drew. I don't see a great hitter anywhere on that list. You mean other than Adam Dunn? Look, you seem to be saying that HRs are good, but only if you have a high batting average, as if getting a walk instead of making an out isn't also good. Dunn does a few things very well, 2 of those things are not making outs and hitting for power. Just so happens that those are two very good things for a hitter to do. No, he doesn't hit for a high average, but since he's good at not making outs and hits for a lot of power, the low batting average isn't terribly relevant except for fantasy baseball and old-timey baseball writers. I'm not sure, but I don't think that's really what he's saying. He seems to be saying that "hitting" does not necessarily equate to "run producing" and that, a good "hitter," by definition, is one that can get a lot of hits, while not necessarily having to be a good run producer or slugger or walker or anything else. I don't really agree with that, though. To me hitting = run production and I'll consider the hitters most adept at producing runs to be the best hitters.
  17. I think it was largely a case of a team and a new manager getting used to each other. Don't forget they started slowly in 2003 as well (they were a game under .500 as late as July). From what I remember about that team, they actually got off to a good start and then hung around .500 for most of the year before making a late run in Sept to make the playoffs and finish with a less mediocre record.
  18. No. Mauer was the catcher and Martin the backup. Do you have a link? It was shown on TV. Not sure if it's online anywhere.
  19. Milwaukee would be losing right now if they had pitched to Jason Kendall.
  20. Did Soto make Phillips's 25 and under team?
  21. ummm i would not have IBBed Kendall to face CC
  22. "he hit it over some fencing they had set up in the outfield!"
  23. yea, i actually like the stupid sportscenter home run calls.. or at least, a lot of them.
  24. i hope we get to face him in the playoffs, preferably at Wrigley.
