  1. If Fuk really does turn it around (yea, it could be a complete coincidence but we haven't seen him make solid contact like that in a while, much less in two straight PAs) after these adjustments, that's just another notch in the belt for what has been an amazing coaching staff this season, especially in terms of hitting.
  2. Fuku! Wow, I thought that might've been gone based on Len's reaction. Would've been sick if he came back and hit 2 consecutive HR right after the "tweaks."
  3. hah I just put together the longest run-on sentence ever
  4. So, yea, I think it's fair to say that this is the best Cubs team that any of us have ever seen in our lives. Except Fred.
  5. I'm not quite sure the Cubs' record has sunk in on me yet. They have NEVER been this good in my entire life. That's pretty much the case for just about everyone here. I mean statistically, they have never been 30 games over .500 at any point in the season in my entire life. That's what I meant, too. I mean, I was 1 in 1984, so that doesn't really count. I didn't even watch a Cubs game all the way through till 1995. And even for those that did "live" through 69 and 84, I don't think those teams were as good as this one, and I think their high water marks were about 32 games over, and we still have over a month to go.

  7. brb getting popcorn
  8. It's crazy that we could very possibly match last year's win total before September even begins. It's not even out of the realm of possibility (but pretty unlikely) that we top it by then. That really made how good our record is sink in.
  9. Just out of curiosity, how many people based their draft very much on Meph's rankings? Only reach I made based on his rankings, which I got pretty lucky on (since I was drunk when I made the pick, lulz) was Soto. Most of the rest of my draft came right off that sheet. My team is doing fairly well.
  10. I absolutely hate it, too. I think I'd think about trying it in the bottom of the ninth of a tied game with one out, depending on who the basestealer was and who the hitters coming up were. But that's about the only time I'd ever be ok with it.
  11. Now that you put it that way, it really does sound familiar, and about 4 months old. WTF?
  12. That is true, and I got the same feeling. I wonder why it would come out now, though.
  13. http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/stories/2008/08/25/daily3.html?ana=from_rss Ugh. Sounds like Selig meddling again or something.
  14. My favorite stat is the winning percentage with Harden, Demp, & Z (plus Lilly since May). It probably doesn't mean a whole lot, but that's SEXY. Especially considering the fact that those are the only guys that would start for us in the playoffs.
  15. Are the games against St. Louis and Houston supposed to worry us? That's why I hate that whole "they're facing x many games vs. teams over .500." The Cards have been a very mediocre team for months now and the Astros aren't any better. Am I saying they can't or won't lose to them? No. But I'm not worried about those opponents any more than I'd worry about any other random team.
  16. Harden, Dempster, Zambrano
  17. They played well last September. How they do in September will have little to no bearing on how they do in October outside of actually getting them there.
  18. It's not disturbing and the reason it's the best offense in the NL is because we have good production at every position. That's far more important than whether or not we have great production at one or two of them.
  19. I'm Jerk Store... 6 teams make the playoffs.
  20. They looked to have been playing pretty crappily when they got swept at the Cell.
  21. The worst loss of the season? I'm honestly not sure what that means, but if there were any rankings, this would not be it.
  22. Seriously? You gave up that easy? QUITTER! j/k
  23. If I remember, I'll contribute too. Actually, I probably won't be here for playoff game threads.... they would drive me absolutely nuts and I'll probably be sitting on a friend's couch or at a bar or something.
  24. but it would also be because of the other 60 some-odd losses.
  25. OK, I'm being a bit harsh. They could miss out on winning the division and home field because of this game. That has about a 10% chance of happening.
