  1. 4, actually, in a row.... Just because he got away with pitching poorly the time before last doesn't mean he pitched well. Vs Cincy two starts ago he pitched 7 innings and gave up 1 earned run. I don't care if he got away with pitching poorly, but he has not had 4 bad starts in a row. You don't go 7 and give up 1 and call that a bad start. If he is out of shape, it will show up now - in the dog days of summer. Let's hope he has something left in the tank. When he only threw like 55% strikes, I'll call it a bad start, regardless of the result...especially for the purpose of determining whether or not his bad starts are the result of some sort of trend. If you want to stick your head in the sand about it because he managed to avoid actually giving up runs, feel free to do so.
  2. The Post-Dispatch quoted a couple anonymous Cards who said "we aren't big fans of that." Exactly...
  3. Cards should untuck their jerseys after fatty makes the final out
  4. it doesn't like you

  6. Is it really hurting? It's probably the right thing to do. For whatever reason, the lineup tools, IIRC, tend to put the pitcher spot 8th in the ideal lineups. But I might be remembering wrong.

  8. That was before 07.
  9. Well, he's obviously not in shape.
  10. you weren't supposed to, damnit
  11. BTW, I love the fact that the Brewers have been white hot in August and still find themselves a half-game worse (even or a full game after tonight) than they were on 8/1. EDITED - n/m on that other part
  12. i don't get the joke
  13. MLB.com has been counting it for a long time. It's the E# column. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/index.jsp
  14. Seriously? Wow, teams have been really bad this year on the road. 2/3 that are better than us are in our own division. The other is the Angels.
  15. The Cubs are now tied for the 4th best road record in baseball. So much for the "can't win on the road" knock.
  16. I video like this for Sammy, say, 6 years ago, would've been amazing It also would've lasted like 3 hours
  17. I don't see why not. I could see 3 out of 4 or even a sweep, too. Nice to have Dempster, Harden, Lilly, and Z going.. hopefully Z gets his head out of his ass. That Harden vs. Blanton matchup is one hell of a mismatch.
  18. Will they use Wood 3 days in a row, 15 hours after his last appearance?
