  1. The playoff spot has been clinched for a while.
  2. I think we should label them Cobs again until they win again
  3. Same. Soreness sounds better than saying he felt a twinge or a pop or something, that's for sure. But I'm still going to be on edge until we hear something.
  4. Not enough to make up for the difference in lineups.
  5. We've been better with horrible Z for a month... and Milwaukee playing as well as they could... we've held them exactly where they were. Obviously, that's just a month, but our rotation without Z would matchup well enough with theirs that our lineup and bullpen would tip it in our favor, IMO. Their rotation is pretty meh after CC/Sheets.
  6. If Z's done there's no guarantee that we're toast. Nothing is guaranteed. Sabathia pitched like crap in the playoffs last season, during his CY Young year, and scrubs like Jeff Weaver helped the Cards win a title two years ago. We'll see what happens. Exactly. Harden, Good-Z, and Dempter sure does have a nice ring to it, though..
  7. The magic number went down one tonight, guys...
  8. I really wish this were a day game...
  9. lol at least some of us have a sense of humor about this
  10. Why wouldn't he see Andrews if it were an arm thing? I'm not saying it's not, just wondering why he's not going to the supposed best. Here's hoping it's something like last time and it's something that can resolve itself in 20 days or so. That would be awesome in a lot of ways.
  11. Now THAT is something to worry about... It's a good thing we have Dempster and Harden...
  12. A 16 year old is showing more maturity and rationality than a lot of the rest of us. Nice post, Ski...
  13. My posts attempting to convey some perspective are getting lost in a sea of nonsense. *sigh*
  14. Also, the offense showed plenty of signs of life and was back to what we're used to from them. I really can't overstate how much this loss can be blamed on Lou for bringing in Howry, something I, and just about any poster on here, would never do in a game that's any closer than 5 runs.
  15. Be thankful for the fact that despite hitting this slide, we are still 5 games up in the loss column and 4.5 games up overall. It could be a lot worse. They'll turn it around. In fact, today would have probably been a fairly easy win if not for Bobby freaking Howry (really, Lou Piniella), but I digress. Yep, it would've definitely been nice to gain on Milwaukee while they were losing these games, but we're going to withstand streaks like this at times.
  16. I would think that if there were something to say, Len or Bob would've said it by now. Maybe Lou will address it in the postgame if he's not too pissed off.
  17. Can you possibly be serious? This team is going to have a win total somewhere in the high 90s, possibly 100+, it has one of the best run differentials of the past decade, and is 30+ games over .500. Are you freaking kidding or what? Do you think great teams don't lose 4 games in a row sometimes?
  18. I think they think they're alive for the wild card
  19. Yeah, I hear ya...even with a loss, the Cubs are still 31 games over 500, firmly in first place with the best record in the NL...Definite panic time. How, exactly, does the situation you describe differ from 1969? There's a wild card now... which makes a huge difference Ooooo okay so we have a safety valve that will let us get swept by the Mets instead of the Dbacks. I see. lol whatever you say man.. feel free to keep flying off the handle. how have you ever survived a 162 game season? At least I'm won't be devastated when it actually happens. Prepare for the worst. Great way to watch baseball... live in constant fear of the 0.2% shot coming to fruition. Why even bother being a fan? If the worst does happen, we'll all be devastated. Don't kid yourself into thinking otherwise. Exactly
  20. Darryl Ward has no chance of hitting a game tying HR here

  22. We are talking about Geoff Blum here, right? The same guy who is batting .239 on the season with a .715 OPS? The key words were right now. Blum gets big hits, Lee, not so much. Lets get 3 and win this now. lol
