  1. I don't really think it is when it's a trip that is likely to make most teams look worse than they really are. How is that a good indicator of anything at any time?
  2. Actually, it is at Allstate for 2 weeks prior to moving to the UC for 2 weeks. I understand why it is done. I just think it's a pretty good initial indicator of where we're at. Right now, we're being exposed. I'm not saying improvements won't be made -- although it doesn't look like a solid big man will materialize any time soon. Is it really when, as UM noted, even the good Bulls teams struggled through it? Don't forget the 0-9 team of 04-05 which, IMO, was the best of that whole bunch until Curry's heart thing. After that start they played great basketball for a long time.
  3. Yea, no way I change what happened now in hindsight. Rose over any of them.
  4. Wasn't RedIvy insistent that Canning would get the team? I could be mistaken.
  5. Nope not at all, but you'd expect a little better effort than this. The Blazers are good but we should be able to stay on the floor with them. Portland was one of two teams the Bulls could have beaten on this roadtrip. Now all that's left is Golden State. Portland scared me a lot more than the current incarnation of the Spurs.
  6. Be happy with a possible 8th seed and first round knockout this year and a great rookie season from Rose, a little more development next year and then hope for Amare or Bosh. How poorly Drew Gooden plays interior defense at C for us this year has little to do with our longterm prospects. Tyrus needs to figure something out this year, though.
  7. Yes, they're on their way to a 5-7 record with a rookie coach and rookie point guard vs the 3rd hardest schedule in the NBA. Fold them! this team has NO offensive game plan at all. NONE. when they win, it's because their crappy mid-range jump shots happen to fall. it's embarrassing. i'm tired of this team being "young" and "inexperienced". every time it seems the team is going somewhere, it takes 2 steps back. The game plan is have Rose dribble penetrate and dish to the open man or attack the basket. This is the best spacing the Bulls have had on offense in years and they are attempting more free throws and attacking the basket more than they have (yes, a lot of that is due to Rose) in a long time. Of course, Larry and Ben doing whatever they want at times doesn't help things. The real problem with this team is its front court on offense and defense. No amount of effort is going to turn Drew Gooden into a good defender. Noah is clueless. Tyrus gives the effort but plays totally out of control.
  8. Nope not at all, but you'd expect a little better effort than this. The Blazers are good but we should be able to stay on the floor with them. Obviously they're playing like crap. I don't understand how that justifies a bunch of reactionary nonsense, though.
  9. These threads are almost as bad as the Cubs game threads. You would think this team was expected to win 50 games.
  10. Did Jalen Rose just say Oden is "a guy who can score off intangibles?" Wat?
  11. You obviously weren't around for the Corey Benjamin, Calvin Booth, and Rusty LaRue years. Yeah, perhaps you forgot the game where WE SET THE RECORD FOR LEAST POINTS EVER IN AN NBA GAME (49). That wasn't even the worst game. The worst game was MJ's first game back in Chicago for the Wizards. The score ended up being like 75-61 or something like that. I was just an embarassing atrocious game. I remember both of those.
  12. Yes, they're on their way to a 5-7 record with a rookie coach and rookie point guard vs the 3rd hardest schedule in the NBA. Fold them!
  13. Seriously? Jason Caffey? Dickey Simpkins? Corey Benjamin? Dalibor Bagaric? Considering who were still on the board during each yr those players were drafted, I wouldn't lose sleep over those crappy players. The only one that hurt was Jason Caffey, and that is only because of who was drafted right behind him, Michael Finley. But considering where those guys who were pick it's no surprise that they stunk. Right now Noah could be worse then those guys (how was this guy ever considered a #1 pick overal, I'll never understand) simply based on where he was drafted; lottery .v. early to late 20's pick. by who?
  14. Seriously? Jason Caffey? Dickey Simpkins? Corey Benjamin? Dalibor Bagaric?
  15. Pretty decent first half overall. We need to get them in transition more and Rose needs to continue the aggressiveness he showed late in the 2nd quarter.
  16. What it means is unless something unexpected happens, the Cubs won't be pursuing Peavy any longer. Completely different meaning than "due to." Now it's just a matter of how much you think Dave Kaplan knows.
  17. Seriously, though, how much would it suck if Cuban was all set as owner and this SEC bs cost us. It would be like 5 outs to go....
  18. It was weird how much time Cuban was spending around the team.... in Trib seats... at the Kerry Wood event...
  19. What if Mark Cuban's situation = the unforeseen circumstances....
  20. Question - Did Peavy make that list when he signed that contract (what was it, a year ago)? Did he just "give" them 5 teams this fall when they came to him about a trade? Is it something in the contract (which doesn't seem to be the case, because if it were, they wouldn't have to come to him for permission to deal him to one of said 5 teams)?
  21. I don't get all the Braves talk if he doesn't want to go there. Even if he was using the Braves to squeeze more out of the Cubs, I would imagine that orange has pretty much been squeezed dry. What is there to hold out for? Vitters?
  22. I mean, I think most of us believe Donnie's story, right? Seems far fetched that anybody could/would make up something that elaborate. Peavy obviously seems to have a significant preference to come here, and that, along with the fact that ownership wants the big contracts shipped out, seems to be pretty key in this whole thing.
  23. According to like one or two crappy writers What writers aren't crappy? Rosenthal was as high a profile guy reporting on this as there was and he, IIRC, reported that Dempster and Peavy wasn't a mutually exclusive proposition for the Cubs. Again, that's IIRC and I'm much too lazy to look for quotes on this. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. That's kind of the point. Apparently Rosenthal is pretty terrible, except for when one of his rumors involves something good for the Cubs. Then he's very reputable. That's the way it seems here anyways The point is everyone seems to think they all suck. Take it all with a grain of salt, but then again, I would take Rosenthal's information that the Cubs want both (which is likely coming from some sort of source) over the guy at MLBTR's speculation.
