  1. he's still probably significantly underpaid at 16.5 for the next two years. he was worth almost double that 2 of the last 3 years.
  2. any move to keep him around past his current contract is obv more emotionally driven than anything and i'm still kinda ok with that, especially given how much surplus value he has given them and how much he has meant to the organization all that said, it's not really worth talking about right now, especially given everything else going on and ownership pretending times are tough.
  3. He’s at $16.5 on the option years, is that really “grossly underpaid” from an AAV perspective for a 1B on the other side of 30? He more recently has a season at sub 3 WAR than he does a season at 5+. I think that $16.5 range for AAV on an extension+guaranteeing option year is pretty fair/realistic. yeah i'd say he's been pretty damn grossly underpaid (as much as you can say that given the fact that it's already generational wealth and blah blah)
  4. i will take this opportunity to post this
  5. We've been saying that for 3 years. 92 wins (NLCS), 95 wins (most in NL in regular season) and last years horsefeathers show the last 3 years. If you think the true talent is closer to 2017 and 18 (I do) than 2019, Pythag agreed, then yeah we don’t need major changes to win. Small tweaks to optimize things are going to put them in a plenty good spot to win 90+ and what more can you really ask for? yep. find some guys who throw hard to see what sticks in the bullpen, get a serviceable starter, and replace trash like almora and descalso with competence (both by playing time allocation and actual personnel moves).
  6. they don't really need to make major changes to win We've been saying that for 3 years. a span of time which includes an nlcs berth and a 95 win season. 5 years ago those two seasons would be up there with the seasons any of us alive remember most fondly.
  7. they don't really need to make major changes to win You're right, but part of that hinges on Kris Bryant being your third baseman, does it not? yes, it does. that is why they should not trade him.
  8. they don't really need to make major changes to win
  9. very here for this being a repeat of the brian roberts and jake peavy threads.
  10. I like how Theo is playing it close to the vest and will pounce on Cole once the dust clears> :^o God damn man. I'm dying. have you ever thought about doing an open mic or something?
  11. Yeah, he was... What am I missing? He was traded, but it was because the Cubs wouldnt meet his contract demands with people at the time claiming that they wouldn't pay him what he wanted because he was black Right...so, still traded. And the cheapness (not so much the racism) is kinda the same motivator here. So, mostly I'm just confused at saying he was traded and then throwing a footnote in saying he wasn't traded.
  12. Yeah, he was... What am I missing?
  13. today? the cubs how about after they do a bunch of dumb crap to get under $208M in payroll?
  14. green bay is a 4.5 pt favorite (after opening at -7 very early on)
  15. oh PTR definitely sucks ass.
  16. categorizing 2015, 16, 17, and 18 all as "mission accomplished" doesn't exactly make things look a whole lot worse. and the WS isn't entirely irrelevant insofar as it was ostensibly (at least partially) a result of being good enough to make it in over and over...even if it was in year 2 of that stretch.
  17. have we heard anything on whether trevathan can possibly come back this year? i don't think he's been IRed
  18. aka 324 regular season baseball games over two ML seasons including two playoffs that will end with a champion series apiece How is this treated as bad, something to run away from, and not something that was always going to happen that everyone knew about going in? right the main thing was foolishly not expecting PTR to cry poor again
  19. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5203nRHDz4/ caption translates roughly/clunkily to: more than to ask you for, i have a great deal to thank you for, my god Mas que pedirte, tengo muchísimo que agradecerte mi Dios
  20. a historic and as-fun-as-you-could-possibly-script world series and 3 straight nlcs appearances and 4 seasons of 90+ wins (including a 95, a 97, and a 103) in a row? yeah, ok, sulley. it was a really shitty outcome we got out of that.
  21. nothing is bothering me. i just take joy in making fun of you.
  22. Uhhhh lol viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3195&p=383940&hilit=Derwood#p383933 One can know what those sites think without visiting them. There are these things called Facebook and Twitter, you see... What the hell do you even think you're saying
  23. would you stop updating us on what's going on at the cubs den and bcb comment sections Lol, I’ve never visited either of those sites, but sure. Uhhhh lol viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3195&p=383940&hilit=Derwood#p383933
