  1. miles would've been funnier
  2. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
  3. Schefter reporting that Favre has little support in the locker room and that there are "schisms" in the locker room between backers of each QB. To be expected, I guess... but if Favre struggles early, I'd expect this to become more of an issue. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp09/news/story?id=4424660
  4. Just heard Bernstein on WSCR mention that the rumor is that Ricketts has already been in contact with Sandy Alderson (we knew this) to become the head guy (President I guess?) and that Alderson would be bringing in someone from Boston's front office who works under Theo. Any idea as to who the said Epstein guy might be? It makes sense that Ricketts is probably a bright enough guy to be sabermetrically inclined (I guess that's true of a lot of people and the real question is if he actually applies that sort of thinking to sports - obviously plenty of smart people who are dumb sports fans)... he made his fortune in a very numbers/stats driven profession. I posted about this in the other Ricketts thread but I figured this might warrant its own thread and wouldn't get buried in some of the crap (Coletti LOL) being talked about in that thread.
  5. Alfonso Soriano and Todd Hundley say hello. Hundley wasn't a Hendry signing - he was, I believe, a MacPhail signing. Either MacPhail or Ed Lynch. It was MacPhail. Lynch resigned as GM during the 2000 season. Hundley was signed after that season. Yep. In fact, one of Hendry's first moves (if not first) was dumping Hundley on the Dodgers... He was lauded for that one even though I hated that Karros and Grudz were going to take playing time away from Choi and Hill (LOL).
  6. I am way too lazy/don't have time to read this whole thread, but Bernstein just mentioned that among the rumors of what Ricketts is considering doing is that one of the people he has in mind for GM is a sabermetrically-inclined disciple of Theo Epstein. Anybody hear anything about this and/or know who it is?
  7. his one completion was into double coverage :-)) I know, it was so much worse than that INT that Cutler threw last week or the ball he threw right at the Buffalo LB's chest. I love how preseason games are only meaningless when it's your team or player looking bad. When your guy/team looks great it's okay to get all excited again. I just like to make fun of the massive douche that is Brett Favre.. who said anything about meaningless preseason games?
  8. You expected him to perform close to that? Wat? Personally, I expect Denver to be hilariously bad this year... and I also think it's hilarious that they traded away their first rounder next year because it's going to be a top 2 or 3 pick.
  9. I have a hard time believing he's "very frustrated," and I'd be shocked if he actually told anyone that. Seems like the guy is just trying to start another controversy since they'll have to actually talk about Cutler being good this week. Especially since it's some douche from a Denver TV station. Oh is it? I knew that he had written for NFL.com...didn't know the Denver connection. That's what I got when I googled his name... http://cbs4denver.com/bios/Vic.Lombardi.sports.9.566927.html Could be a different guy/coincidence though, I guess.

  14. just noticed some bengal (i assume) wearing a d-lee shirtzey on hard knocks when they're sitting in the classroom.
  15. So basically its where it has been for a while now. Yea, no. Not at all.
  16. Kenney on ESPN1000 - Still has to get through bankruptcy court and still has to get league approval
  17. They said franchise. But his stake would make sense.

  19. Sale is signed and official. Needs approval now. Agreement values franchise and assets at $845M. Tribune will retain 5% stake. Per ESPN1000
  20. Per Rotoworld (per Sun-Times) Great news.
  21. A few things on Favre... Last year, he 51% of his total yardage was YAC. Only two other full time QBs had higher percentages... Campbell and Cassel. He thrived on those short routes. Once teams caught on to the fact that they could cut that off and force him to go deep, he became a disaster. I don't think it's as simple as blaming it on a bicep injury.
