  1. took two good throws to get him on a play that was close and the run would've won the game...worst case you end up with a runner in scoring position with your best hitter up and you literally only need a single run. Or, you hold him and have bases loaded (they would've walked Rizzo) with 1 out and a very hot hitter up in Zobrist. It was a bad send, especially with the outfielders playing deep, and not that close. who the hell cares about the bases being loaded? the only run that matters is at 3rd.

  5. if this were july, that would've been the first two innings of that detroit game last year
  6. what a weird horsefeathering game so far
  7. In Matheny's years as manager he's benefited tremendously from the groundwork laid before him, but he is an awful on field manager. His apparent obstinance in the face of common sense is Dusty-esque. I thoroughly enjoyed him repeatedly going to lefties to face Rizzo in the playoffs last year in the face of every statistical indicator that it was a stupid idea. I'd still rather have him face a lefty if I were the opposition. The problem is that Siegrist is pretty terrible vs. lefties
  8. i have no idea what you're referencing
  9. the over under win total would've been a much better bet, especially that horsefeathering reno casino that had us at 89 or something lmao

  13. i guess hawk and stone were speaking (pretty glowingly) about the cubs last night (how many runs we score and how well we pitch) and stone matter of factly dropped in that we don't have a good defense. ha.
  14. There were rumors of us attempting to trade for him at the trade deadline of last year right? If we did that instead of Haren and he had those end of the year starts on the Cubs this board would have exploded. yeah theo was trying to get him
  15. it was more of an aramis vs the brewers (IIRC) hop than a sammy hop imo

  17. I've entirely come to expect all doubleheaders to be day/night split with split admission now...how long has it been since there has even been one where one ticket gets you into both games?
