Kris Bryant is a pretty good example. Fowler last year made some significant changes IIRC. Hell, the whole team has drastically reduced it's strikeout rate from one of the highest to one of the lowest...that's not just Heyward and Zobrist. Right, but again, Rizzo seemed to have to COMPLETELY change his approach. I think THAT'S what a lot of us have come to expect or hope for, at least in terms of how "easy" it should be, as opposed to guys tweaking just part of how they approach an AB. Honestly, I'm not really sure if Rizzo's changes are any more drastic than any of those guys and just more publicized specifically. We just know more about the stuff Rizzo did as it's been talked about a lot and the changes are more obvious to the untrained eye.

I get what you're saying, but we've had a lot of these stories. They tend to come with good coaching/player development, something we never really had so we were blind to how much of a difference it could make. I'm definitely guilty of it. Though now I'm retroactively pissed over the especially unjustified game 1 loss. Yes, I'm afraid I'm contracting David Disease in that now i'm kinda bummed this wont be a 3 game rout sweep that gives us a 10 game lead over the Cardinals Such is life. I'm trying very hard not to think about it.

Love how causally you group Fernandez in with Teheran. Not sure what the hang up is. I'm not saying they're the same guy, but they're both young, stud pitchers with multiple years of team control. Fernandez is certainly the sexier option, but he hasn't pitched a full season since 2013. Teharen has, and some quite good ones. So yeah, one guy could potentially be a legend whereas the other is more likely to end up very good, but my point is I'd take either. Or both. Teheran wouldn't cost anything resembling the package Fernandez would -

Was Martinez the pitcher in that awful game at Busch last year when we scored like 5 runs in the first and then lost? There's no way such a game happened. Why would your brain be so cruel to you and actually remember something like that? There are two regular season losses I remember well from last year. That one, and Strop at Wrigley (also vs. that terrible team).

In the 6 games against the Cardinals in September 2015, the Cubs went 4-2. Those 2 losses were both games started by Carlos Martinez, although I will say in neither game was he particularly great. He's never lost to the Cubs as well. Was Martinez the pitcher in that awful game at Busch last year when we scored like 5 runs in the first and then lost?
