Javy might be better currently, but Addison still has the higher ceiling. Javy hits lefties a lot better and is bad against righties, Addison hits righties better and is bad against lefties. Javy strikes out less (feels funny typing that), but Addison walks more. Both are very good fielders. They strangely compliment each other right now. Uh, no. Javy clearly has a higher upside. Although I think Russell IS the better player currently and maybe forever. But he can't touch Javy's upside. To me, the real question is whether Javy is a better defensive SS than Addy? I think I may have even saw a quote from Maddon yesterday basically saying that. I don't really think that's true unless you're defining upside as this pie in the sky type of thing where Baez can just suddenly change into a disciplined hitter...as much as I'd like to see it, I think it's extremely unlikely. And if that is how you're defining upside, you might as well say "but what if Russell developed 40 HR power??" Certainty matters, and there's a lot more certainty in Addison reaching more of his upside than the "upside" you're talking about with Javy.
