  1. apparently the bone spurs bothered matz enough that he was going to have season ending surgery to remove them, but the Mets FO talked him out of it...
  2. Coghlan has struck out in 1/3 of his PA and has a 69% contact rate with the Cubs Yeah, I did a mini-double take at the "he's looked really good" part. He's looked like an oaf. His best contribution to anything has been his supporting role in your sig.
  3. I'm more worried about Murphy jumping Zobrist.
  4. For as long as Almora plays like he's played so far, he's an MLB asset and should stay, IMO. If/when he shows some sustained struggles, different story. Until then, I think Joe can get him enough looks.

  6. FWIW, what Almora has been so far would = about a 4 win player.
  7. Javy might be better currently, but Addison still has the higher ceiling. Javy hits lefties a lot better and is bad against righties, Addison hits righties better and is bad against lefties. Javy strikes out less (feels funny typing that), but Addison walks more. Both are very good fielders. They strangely compliment each other right now. Uh, no. Javy clearly has a higher upside. Although I think Russell IS the better player currently and maybe forever. But he can't touch Javy's upside. To me, the real question is whether Javy is a better defensive SS than Addy? I think I may have even saw a quote from Maddon yesterday basically saying that. I don't really think that's true unless you're defining upside as this pie in the sky type of thing where Baez can just suddenly change into a disciplined hitter...as much as I'd like to see it, I think it's extremely unlikely. And if that is how you're defining upside, you might as well say "but what if Russell developed 40 HR power??" Certainty matters, and there's a lot more certainty in Addison reaching more of his upside than the "upside" you're talking about with Javy.
  8. if javy baez had to hit righties more often, you wouldn't even be asking that question...which is sort of funny since addison hits like a blind guy with one hand tied behind his back against lefties.
  9. javy baez could be a monstrously valuable player somewhere down the line if the plate approach thing ever clicks for him
  10. i've been passively listening and i think coomer has described the rizzo HR 4 different isolated times in the last 10 minutes
  11. I thought it was awesome regardless of outcome
  12. By the way the horsefeathers that Joe pulled with the pitching was amazing
  13. Run differential game you assholes
  14. You are just embarrassing for a fan of the best team in baseball that has a double digit lead in the division in late June.
  15. i'm more slightly entertained and seriously confused than i am mad about it
  16. deshaies clearly had no idea who giolito was before last night
  17. guess you guys missed it but we donged already
  18. there was more wrong with what people perceived troy glaus to be than that comp when it was made
