  1. if it's any higher than torres as main piece, i'll be pissed. if it's torres, i'll be ok. if it's less than torres i'll be happy.
  2. Uh, Richard....who was also stretched out during his rehab. yeah, that was a weird question if richard has one niche he's perfect for in MLB, long relief mop up guy is it.
  3. Yeah, he's probably Peralta all over again. I've got real hopes on Matusz though. hell, after hearing what theo said about them finding/fixing flaws in his delivery, i've got (mild) hopes on matusz as a starter
  4. i think that's more a byproduct of them being smart enough to generally go with the shotgun/numbers approach and gamble on a lot of guys rather than investing disproportionately and ill-advisedly in "surer" things. there's gonna be some mottes, sorianos, etc. when they do that but, as you allude to, it hasn't really hurt us. it's even easier to do that when you have a couple of guys like rondon and strop (who were originally acquired by pretty much that same philosophy) at the top.
  5. i have a strong feeling we're all going to hate joe nathan pretty quickly.
  6. There's just no horsefeathering way And isn't it a woman?
  7. it's probably the "i had him on my fantasy team" bias talking, but i want nothing to do with pineda. and i know his peripherals look pretty good other than serving up HR like it's BP.
  8. yeah...i think TT has mentioned before that he's a "name on the front" guy and would eventually be ok with it. i'm kinda in the same boat. he's probably (almost certainly?) a huge scumbag but he's also really [expletive] good and should come relatively cheap. before i didn't want him, but being able to replace our worst bullpen arm with him would be a noticeable upgrade (and i'm saying this on the assumption that he won't cost us anything we'll be too bummed over). You'd be bummed about Torres, right? I do think it's going to take that. If not any of Happ, Torres, Eloy then get it done. I'll deal with my dirty feelings. I wouldn't be all that bummed about Torres but I don't know if it will take that. I'm not huge on Torres, both because of what he profiles as and our need. I see him purely as trade ammo. I'd hope/think his standing could get us more than a rental reliever (a really damn good one but also with huge baggage), but maybe he can't. If they can deal him as the centerpiece of a package for one of those starters with team control they're looking for, that'd be great. I just really have no idea how the market values him.
  9. I feel dirty that I find myself excited about having Chapman. For sure judge me. yeah...i think TT has mentioned before that he's a "name on the front" guy and would eventually be ok with it. i'm kinda in the same boat. he's probably (almost certainly?) a huge scumbag but he's also really horsefeathering good and should come relatively cheap. before i didn't want him, but being able to replace our worst bullpen arm with him would be a noticeable upgrade (and i'm saying this on the assumption that he won't cost us anything we'll be too bummed over).
  10. Huh? Cotillo is as legit as any of them.
  11. Yankees are closer to dealing him and Cotillo has us as one of the primary suitors. [tweet] [/tweet]
  12. No thanks. OK Soler is worse than bad heyward.
  13. Ouch no wonder Joe went with Richard over this bum
  14. When's the last pitch Clayton Richard threw that wasn't hit for extra bases
  15. You've finally posted something I won't even try (aside from that gross Twinkie thing)
  16. Lol at them giving us the lefty vs javy matchup
  17. Power is out now. Crazy thing is it didn't happen until the storm was mostly gone
  18. posit: pizza puffs are the best hangover food known to man
  19. nothing is wrong with him...he's had a few shaky starts lately but he's been more than worth what we gave him and a good acquisition. most of this board just doesn't like him and they rip him when given the opportunity.
  20. http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/mp4/2016/07/24/961501783/1469319984663/asset_1800K.mp4 good LORD (oh btw dontrelle willis sighting)
  21. why even bother with these arguments when you can just bring up the NLDS and the standings? and then ask him if gyorko should've won rookie of the year over bryant.
