  1. the only thing that gives me hope that they won't exclusively name anyone "closer" if/when this goes down is that they would be acquiring (and paying up for) this guy and then, if we're really rolling again, just playing horsefeathers the closer with him for 2 months. like, i'd like to see him come in to a key spot in the seventh inning, if called for. i have hope that this manager and FO would actually do that, even though they didn't usually with rondon.
  2. good lord he isn't going to be a playoff starter
  3. i wonder if we'd have the balls to try him as a starter next year (although he's really really good and valuable doing what he does already)
  4. even with the rumored 4/60 extension? Ignoring the morality of the situation for the moment... I don't see the 4/60 extension as adding significant value to the deal. 4/60 is more or less market value. And while the certainty of having him under contract for that without duking it out for his services is worth something, I don't see it as adding enough to tip the scales. If it was something like 3/40 with a vesting 4th year based on appearances, maybe that would add enough value to get me over the hump. i think he's worth more than his WAR total (which is already really high for a reliever) would suggest when you consider that he is as dominant as he is and you can pick and choose and put him in your highest leverage situations, thus adding a lot of win probability. 4/60 would be his value without even taking that into account.
  5. official MLB account is reporting it [tweet] [/tweet]
  6. oh what the hell you horsefeathering weirdo
  7. even with the rumored 4/60 extension?
  8. whoa whoa whoa on including wood with that group beep, beep, beep, back the truck up
  9. Timely hitting isn't something you build a roster for. It's just luck, for lack of a better term. Well timed hits.
  10. Are you a Bears fan? Or rather, were you a Bears fan after they signed Ray McDonald? Honest question. I'd imagine if we complete this deal, same thing applies. He messes up in the slightest bit and he's gone. Brandon Marshall is a better example...most of us LOVED him (when he was good at football).
  11. There was a story going back to the early 90's, I think, of him hitting his wife over the head with a rum bottle or something like that. Who knows how legit it was.
  12. I don't have any issue with what you're saying or how you feel, but how did you feel about Starlin Castro?
  13. It made me legit sad to see Cubs wives tweeting about "trade deadline excitement" tbh
  14. I'd be annoyed if we paid up to rent the most dominant reliever in existence and then wasted him as a closer but i could totally see that being the likely thing.
  15. As soon as I said I noticed zobrist sucking, he picked it back up.
  16. Seal boy! But how does scissors not score. He's fast.
  17. I was about to get super pissed about that not being a hit but I'll take that
  18. So maybe Nathan is uh... sorta good...?
  19. that first inning was horse horsefeathers absolute horse horsefeathers
  20. and of course it isn't fair i'm sick of this game already... horsefeathers horsefeathers horsefeathers
  21. that was really lame...what the horsefeathers
  22. ha, there's definitely huge bias at play in that we've actually seen almora and edwards already, but man, that package would bum me way more than one where torres was the best piece.
  23. you're the last person i thought i'd see arguing against this. ha.
