  1. I don't know that this is true to a very significant degree this year and next, and certainly not beyond that. Contreras has a .692 OPS in July, .518 since the break, and Lucroy is a much better defender/framer. It is true to a very significant degree. I'm not big on arbitrary end points (I mean, I'm happy to look to splits like that to look for signs of progress and whatnot, but definitely not for making big picture roster decisions). I know Lucroy is 30, had a bad year just last year, and given the ~96% chance at winning the division already, doesn't change things much this season. Add in Willson's age and contract status and it isn't even a close call for me. EDIT - And while not on Lucroy's level, it's not like Contreras has graded out as a detriment as a framer, so far.
  2. I don't know that this is true to a very significant degree this year and next, and certainly not beyond that. This is a pretty silly thing to say.
  3. Same.
  4. That's not a wake up call he should need. I wouldn't have started the inning with Arrieta, though.
  5. Not against it, but why should we give up assets to acquire someone who might be our 4 or 5 starter and won't pitch in the postseason? A - because there are years beyond this one B - depends which rays starter, as far as that 4th or 5th thing goes
  6. the funny thing is hawk was actually right on that
  7. His velo this year is essentially the same as it's been his entire career as a starter outside of last year. Granted, that doesn't take into account any potential loss in velocity as the season wears on (since this is only a little over half a season).
  8. He was sick. No injury. wtf Why's that weird (assuming truth)?
  9. I just happened to turn on my stream waiting for baggage claim two pitches before that glorious dong
  10. When my plane landed, Cubs were down and being no hit. Before even find taxiing to the gate, tied
  11. he called us all a bunch of "maggots" and some other stuff
  12. http://i.imgur.com/LT7JMUD.jpg two years dwyane wade became dwayne wayne
  13. i think we banned another weirdo homophobe and that seemed to help last year (actually i have no idea when exactly sontensei or whatever was banned but i think it was august?)
  14. How is my side of the arguement any different than multiple posters coming at me or stating their opinion? You're an idiot how on earth did you use the right you're there i'm not even trying to be a little bit funny or lying in any way. i literally thought the exact same words a while ago when i read that.
  15. He is, but not by enough to offset the control and surplus value.
  16. A guy who has to be protected against right handed pitching in order to have an acceptable slash line is nowhere near untouchable and is worth nowhere near what Bryant and Rizzo are worth.
  17. No horsefeathering way he isn't.
  18. you flip your [expletive] in game threads all the time, you just frame it differently expressing frustration is one thing, and i often do it jokingly...it's kinda different than the people trying to make larger scale narratives out of it and declare things problems that aren't problems.
  19. Pssst...You're the "whacko" with your head in the sand. carry on. the cold hard facts are that the cubs have the best record in baseball even after going through a pretty considerable rough patch and have easily the most talented roster and one of the best managers in the game.
  20. if me bitching about the game thread wackos is going to bring out the real crazies like that, i think we all should do a lot more of it.
  21. ok, umfan I see some of the same handful are still here complaining about others pointing out the cold hard facts, that they apparently don't want to see/hear or acknowledge. Eating their own and telling them how they should conduct their fandom. Now THAT's annoying. WAY more annoying than those venting their justified frustration over this (what is it 2 months worth now..?) garbage and Joe's "maddoningly" idiotic "I'm smarter than the game" routine. There's a reason they're far behind their pythag record...need look no further than the dugout and the clown shoe act coaching the bases for the most part...but hey, they throws a hell of a pajama party. smfh haahahahahahahahah holy horsefeathers. stick around please. post more.
  22. 93% before August not good enough for you? Everyone here was talking about 20 up. Not like not being there is a failure, but giving up half of the lead wasn't what I had in mind either. Ventura again leaving his starter in for a 4th time against our studs. Please do something. Sure. I'm just trying to insert some perspective.
