    How do the Red Sox have better playoff odds across the board with a worse record than the Orioles? Run differential, Actually, it's projections. Obviously, that may (or may not) be reflected in the run differential too, as the concepts kind of go hand in hand.

    Disagree. Spiegel and Goff, and even Boers and Bernstein are miles better than what Murph was doing. Murphy is probably bad enough to say that about Kaplan, but that's pretty bad

    Him and Mike Murphy are like roaches, they somehow continue to exist in the sports media world. I always do a double take when I hear Murphy's voice on ESPN 1000 on the weekends. it's kind of amazing thinking back and knowing mike murphy had a regular permanent midday show in chicago. like, what?

    This has come up a few times on here re: Sale. Going into the season (going as far back as Sox Fest), Sale (much like Arrieta) and Cooper talked about him setting out to pitch to contact more this season, so this would obviously follow from that. Whether you believe that to be the primary reason or not (and therefore just a decline in performance) is up for debate. It hasn't really helped him go much deeper into games, though. His velo is down from last year but right in line with the rest of his career as a starter.
