  1. john jaso looks like he smells from 20 feet away
  2. congrats!
  3. you can bet your ass i wouldn't schedule any hiking trips during the world series, though (and i actually declined on a trip to vegas halloween weekend for that reason)
  4. Also, am I crazy (and i could totally be wrong), or weren't you playing softball for at least the end of game 4 vs st louis last year? :-"
  5. Only the NL teams play on Saturday, so wouldn't the earliest game be about 5-6 CT? Then the second game like 7:30-8:30 CT? Last year the games started at 4:39 and 8:07 CT In 2014, 4:38 and 8:38 CT In 2013, 4:37 and 8:08 CT You are looking at LAD @ WAS and NYM/STL/SF @ Cubs. I'm guessing the Cubs will be the late game oh man i would love that 4:30 start so much but you're probably right
  6. It's a group of 7 people, they'll be fine. If the NLDS goes 5, I will most certainly be bailing on a concert with 1 other person. Did you stop to consider that David is the one that connects all of this people? Maybe he's the hub. Maybe all of their connections are routed through him. I actually kind of am. My niece, my nephew who both would be bummed if I didn't go. Have friends from different circles coming, plus a girl I invited who is really excited to go. I'd be a lame friend and a shitty uncle if I bailed. Also, I'm very excited about the concert and do not want to skip it, and if I really want to make the effort (and, mainly, have the willpower and some luck) I can avoid hearing anything about the game and watch it on DVR afterward. I would just rather a scenario where I wouldn't have to pick one over the other.
  7. kanye concerts happen every few years. there will be many playoff games. especially silly division series ones. made these plans and bought the tickets months ago and i'm not gonna bail on a group of 7 other people like some kind of weirdo because i have to watch a baseball game. 'a baseball game'? Go screw. We knew they'd be playing October baseball a year ago, let alone months. we did. we did not know the dates. even still, i've been excited about this concert for months, too.

Ill gladly hang with your friends at Wrigley if by some off chance they need a stand in.. huh?
  9. Didn't he play on Saturday? He PH, but I don't think he played the field. Could be wrong. pretty sure someone was just complaining about his "lack of effort (aka badness)" in the OF
  10. that might be right. i'll take 5 pm, and hopefully it'll be an RD game by the time i have to walk in the doors. I've gotta say, I'm pretty surprised to hear that you're choosing a Kanye concert over a Cubs playoff game David. Especially this Cubs team. kanye concerts happen every few years. there will be many playoff games. especially silly division series ones. made these plans and bought the tickets months ago and i'm not gonna bail on a group of 7 other people like some kind of weirdo because i have to watch a baseball game.

  12. what if ryan pace IS football theo except without having started by taking over an almost ready made boston team, but instead having taken over the 2011 cubs? please be true (nah probably not) also previous regime was much more hateable than this one
  13. they send you an email to tell you if you have an opportunity to buy tickets
  14. horsefeathers your concert. Nah. What concert? Kanye
  15. Ahh it was Romine. I thought he was a defensively minded catcher? lets not forget that pitcher missed his spot by about 4 feet true, but still seems like a pretty ugly recovery. spots get missed badly all the time and you don't see catchers do THAT on a pitch over the plate.
  16. i just hope i get extremely lucky and that game 2 is a day game so that i don't have to miss it for my concert.
  17. Oh man. These were great. I love how he'd smile after a K and half the times the hitters would too.
  18. from what i understand, he did the same thing at last year's wrigley fireworks
  19. That was in St. Louis. I assume he's asking because of the night game restrictions at Wrigley. There are no postseason night game restrictions at Wrigley. They've had Friday night postseason games there before, including Game 3 vs. the Braves when Prior beat Maddux in 2003. The only way it's not a night game is if TV wants it that way. Yeah, I remembered that one. Just wasn't sure if it changed in all their haggling and back and forth with the city during the renovation stuff. Still, like I said, I'm pretty sure you're right, and postseason is exempt.
  20. Not necessarily. Last year Game 1 was at, what, 5:30 ET? And that was a Friday as well. That was in St. Louis. I assume he's asking because of the night game restrictions at Wrigley.
  21. i don't think the postseason is dictated by those rules, but i could be wrong
  22. If the NL got the DH next year, you'd probably see Almora in CF and Heyward in RF almost every day with Soler/Schwarber rotating between LF and DH. Obviously, they'd utilize the DH to get most of the regulars "semi-days off" but that would most likely be your "normal" arrangement. And the Cubs would love every minute of it. yeah i mean basically the only way i would think about wanting almora as a regular next year is if the NL got the DH...then I'd be OK with going for super defense in the OF. but that would mean mainly rotating schwarber and soler at DH and getting another OFer who can field into the mix (not that i wouldn't also want both soler and schwarb in the lineup at times too)
