  1. Sure they could but it's likely what they are now is closer to what they are moving forward than anything much better. Unless their 3 young starters all with injury/other question marks stay healthy/improve and their aging superstar has a good mid-late peak career season. Which sure all are possible. I'm just not buying it. I'd bet a lot more on a Mccutchen bounce-back if so much of his decline wasn't defense. They're definitely a team where everything will need to go right for them to compete. just move cutch to a corner if he's really that much of a liability and put polanco there. he came up as a highly regarded CF, iirc.
  2. sidenote: part of the reason i am enjoying actively rooting for the mets is knowing mets refugees posters like to lurk here
  3. in better news, the cardinals are losing and the mets are winning
  4. boycott infield zobrist in the playoffs
  5. Lol. They're a mid 80s win team at best for the foreseeable future with their budget and dependence on young pitching. i wouldn't be at all shocked if they bounce back next year
  6. Yes these 3 innings negate the entire season of numbers. yeah. im' not really worried. i'm just less confident than i would've been if friday jake showed up today. gonna be interesting to see what all that rest does to (or for) him.
  7. it just occurred to me that i'm not sure we've ever seen ricketts's wife
  8. i've never felt more strongly about robot umps...that one AB was absurd
  9. ARE YOU horsefeathering KIDDING ME
  10. what the hell is this strike zone?!
  11. pretty serious storm just knocked out my satellite signal. so i go to accuweather to see how long it'll be in my way. looks like most of it has passed and i'm like ok cool no problem. check the minute cast and there's rain for the foreseeable future. then i actually hit play on the radar thingy and the storm is moving from east to west WTF signal just came back tho :)
  12. yeah i was never really worried about it but it's cool to have it locked in
  13. Theo is on with Bernstein and Holmes and it's good. You should listen to the podcast later.
  14. over $50M
  15. i'd much rather root against having to potentially face the best pitcher in the NL twice in 5 games. i'll root for madness in the AL for the fun. plus the mets with thor only once is my ideal opponent so i'd like to lock that in If that's what you're rooting for (as I am), then we want the Mets to clinch a spot in the wild card game on Saturday so Thor would pitch the wild card game. If the Mets don't clinch on Saturday, Thor pitches Sunday and would be ready for Game 1 (and game 5, if necessary) of the NLDS should the Mets get through the Wild Card game. i said on the last page that i'm rooting for them to clinch as early as possible for that reason. they have a magic number of 4.
  16. I'd much rather keep Soler than trade him for the crappy pitching return he'd net as a main piece. Our rotation may be getting older but it's still very good for 5 spots deep. And we have internal depth there with Montgomery as injury or insurance if one of them totally bombs (depending on whether or not they keep Hammel for that cheap option they have).
  17. Kershaw won't be pitching in that series my bad...completely forgot he was back when i said that.
  18. apparently the forecast in philly this weekend for the mets is looking really bad and there might be some craziness with doubleheaders. i don't even want to begin to try to wrap my head around what that would cause.
