  1. if i told you, going into this season, that jake arrieta vs rich hill was a matchup we would not feel absolutely incredible about going into a potential game 7 of the nlcs, how insane would you think i'd be? horsefeathering baseball, man (and horsefeathering pitchers)
  2. Rose has sort of a Barkley dynamic going. And it's hard to be mad when I like what Thomas and ARod are doing that much. I'm basically brushing off the things he says that piss me off and laughing at all the other nonsense.
  3. home game meetups might be tough for me, but if something happened for a possible world series road game, i'd be down for that
  4. Meh. Theo has a reputation as not being shy to bend rules and such. I frankly horsefeathering love it. Maybe bend rules is the wrong phrasing, but there's been times where there's been smoke that he's kinda pushed the envelope on things. For example, I still wouldn't be shocked if it had been true that we were in touch with Maddon before he opted out. Not saying we did, but it wouldn't shock me in the least if we found out somehow that it had happened.
  5. Right?! As soon as some noob spouts off about Bartman like they know some history, I quickly school them about Agony being the goat. You pay a guy $5.5 M and he gets handcuffed by a routine DP ball at a crucial moment?! And that bastard NEVER apologized for it, either. Second place goes to Dusty and Rothschild, who apparently had their bums superglued to the bench while Prior imploded. The thing about that team, is that I don't recall it having a lot of leaders. Sammy was always pretty much for Sammy, Alou showed his prima donna tendencies, and poor Kerry had to take it all on his shoulders. I mean, if Mark Grace had still been playing and a Cub, he would have called the IF in, told a crass joke, and Prior would have gotten out of the inning. And then once they all got into the dugout, Grace would have threatened Alou and Agony within an inch of their lives against behaving like such jerks again. The past 10 times I read that post, I thought there was some terribly hilarious play Adrian Gonzalez had made that they should be showing. Had literally NO idea people were talking about 2003. I probably should've, but I didn't.
  6. If there's anything I've taken away about the Dodgers from this series, it's that Adrian Gonzalez seems like a bit of an asshat. Yeah, I never expected him to be the obligatory guy I'd end up thinking was an annoying douche who I now hate.
  7. i'll gladly go back and trade trash starlin for tyson ross
  8. cubs are not yet in the world series and 538 has them at 51% to win it LOL
  9. i'm not willing to go that far (cemented) yet, but i'm starting to suspect a corner has been turned at a very opportune time.
  10. Addy has a strong case as well. I mean, the 2 HRs are great, but until yesterday he'd been awful and Javy has killed it the whole series, so no. ehhh the two HR were massive, especially at the time they came. they were very very important to two of the 3 wins so far.
  11. guys, i'm starting to believe that javy's offensive approach clicked overnight and he's headed to superstardom now
  12. Rizzo just said they might have to be sleeping with szcur soon lmaooooooooooooooo
  13. Guys, Roberts taking out Maeda with lester up was the best example of TT's joke about a manager playing a twelve deep game of telephone with a SABR front office
  14. I wanted to send trash ass Castro
  15. You know who is better than Jansen?
  16. Just occurred to me that this team was historically good with no schwarber and heyward laying an egg. I don't expect either of those things next year. Granted, Fowler will probably be elsewhere.
  17. Yes, obviously you'd rather he get on base
  18. I'll feel good about any AB with a lot of pitches fouling off pitches over the plate only to strike out doesn't seem like a victory in any sense of the word Working up pitch counts is always a good way to make an out.
  19. saw a lot of pitches but not sure i'd call it a good ab just b/c he fouled them off. Plus were past the point where we can feel good about Good ABs with bad results I'll feel good about any AB with a lot of pitches
  20. So those of you who think hot and cold streaks are real like at least semi-tangible things, do you honestly feel better about Rizzo and Russell's chances to do good things tonight? Just curious.
  21. Yeah this just seems to good to be true. Maeda is due to be passable, and Lester is due to give up a few runs. But not against the Dodgers. Have you seen the lefty/righty splits of these guys? Nope. Are the Dodgers not good vs lefties or something?
